I’ve stayed here three times now and will stay again on my next visit to Helsinki (as long it it stays this hotel chain!). I stayed for 6 nights over Christmas and got to enjoy the festivities of not only Helsinki but the hotel as well. The breakfasts were incredible with lots to choose from and i got to try new dishes - the traditional Christmas porridge went down a treat on Christmas day! Aside from the festive fun, the rooms are comfortable with amazing views over the city - I got the room I requested which made Sokos Vaakuna my go to hotel. The location is great with easy walking distance to the railway station making airport train easy and safe as well as the tram spot right near the hotel. As well as lots of sites, shopping, cafes, restaurant’s and museums literally right next to here or in walking distance. As above, I will stay again so long as it stays Sokos Vaakuna (a couple of hotels in Helsinki have rebranded sadly). The staff are friendly and always greet you, and my favourite part were the cosy rooms that offer a window like seat so you can watch the world go by in your room if you wish which was something I value as I was relaxing and enjoying slow paced visit to Helsinki after four weeks travel.
It’s minor, and whilst I did get the room view I requested, it would have been nice to be in a quieter room as my room was directly opposite the housekeeping closet and their trolleys were put next to my door. Mornings were always very very noisy, as well as throughout the day as housekeeping work into the late afternoon. I was there for 6 nights so I clearly was there for comfort and to relax, sleep in and unwind. I would have appreciated a room away from noise given I was staying for a long stay of 6 nights. People don’t stay somewhere for 6 nights be woken up at 7am everyday, we stay that long to recuperate and relax!
Aside from that, the housekeeping communication was a bit confusing. As a long stay guest, I had to request when I wanted housekeeping which was fine but it did mean cleaning my room wasn’t priority and was attended to later in the day (3pm-4pm). On one occasion when I requested housekeeping, all I got was new towels and no cleaning.
I have stayed three times now, and if I am honest the service wasn’t as good as my very first time I stayed but not bad enough to deter me.

Really enjoyed the view from our room over the main station and toward the cathedral. The breakfast was great and the staff at the reception very welcoming and helpful. Great location too.
The fact that you can leave your luggage is great. The fact that they hand the key to everybody to come and go into the luggage room as they please (and that possibly other people can enter too), is really worrysome. Most hotels have a designated person at the reception that received the luggage and only they enter the room to drop it off and pick it up avoiding that other guests or people who sneak in can open or steal your luggage. I expect better from Sokos in this regard.

The bathroom was out dated, no daily housekeeping we had to go reception ask for clean towels.

Spacious, renovated room. The 3rd bed is a pullout bed, located under/part of the tv-stand. Great view from windows. Also the windows have seat padding, perfect for relaxing by the window. Large selection of breakfast.
The sauna facility is also a great experience.
The checkin/luggage handling process could be improved. We are a group of 8 travellers with 13 luggages of various sizes. The hotel doesn't have concierge or bellboy, and the receptionist didnt offer us to use the luggage trolley that was sitting idle. Instead, (because our rooms werent ready), we were asked to haul our own luggages to the luggage storage room (which involved one flight of stairs). When I asked about the alternative, we were offered to use another storage room that is accessible only by staff lift. We were lucky the next receptionist allowed us to use the same lift and the luggage trolley to move our bags to our floor.
The bed was on the softer side, and is only about 10cm thick.
The shower room was nice and large, but cleanliness really lacks. Visible signs of moulds all around the shower floor/corners.

Location, breakfast and the attitude of stuff were great. We had a bit of an issue about heating the room and they immediately brought a portable heater to the room. Furniture, style and ambiance were also nice. Room was so spacious.
Hotel room was very well cleaned at first. After second night we wanted room to be cleaned but I did not find the effort enough. There were hair on the floor and floor seemed to me not so well mopped.

The location could not be more central. Helsinki is already a very walkable city, but having the hotel right next to the central train station makes everything incredibly convenient. Major shopping districts and plenty of great restaurants are just steps away, making it easy to explore the city without relying on public transport. The central location also makes arrival and departure especially smooth, whether you’re coming from the airport or traveling onward by train.
The staff were excellent—polite, helpful, and genuinely funny. Cleanliness is clearly a priority here, and it shows. Even cleaned underneath the beds and left a cute note about it! :) I especially appreciated being asked how often we would like housekeeping during our stay, which felt thoughtful and guest-focused. The breakfast selection was also very good, with plenty of options, and the dining area was well organized even during busier
The building is a bit older, and while the large window façade offers a breathtaking skyline view, it felt slightly cold during December nights. This was not a major issue, but something to keep in mind if you’re visiting during winter. Some rooms have a bathtub while others have a shower, which isn’t really a negative, but something to be aware of when booking or worth asking about at check-in. The rooms were comfortable overall, though certain design elements reflect the age of the building.
Although we were not affected much by it, it’s worth noting that the hotel does not have on-site parking. You need to use the public underground parking garage nearby, which may be less convenient for guests arriving by car. The hotel staff kindly issued a single invoice for the duration of our stay, which saved us the hassle of paying each time. Still, clearer parking instructions in advance would be helpful for first-time visitors.

The location is superb, within minutes from the main train station, and it is close to shopping centre and eateries. The room we booked is on the smaller end, but it has everything we need. The room is clean, and I personally like the heated bathroom flooring during winter. The check in staff are friendly, and they attended promptly to our showerhead and bidet issue.
