The one drawback was there is no air conditioning in the rooms and we were there during a heat wave. There was a large fan in the room which helped. The hotel is set in a lovely location. Beautiful rooms and the restaurant area very pleasant. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the lady at breakfast on the last day gave us a tip about visiting the church in the woods above the hotel which we enjoyed seeing.
It really is a lovely hotel. Not really a question of what we didn't like but a couple of comments. One thing when we got back each night was that there was a lovely fire going in the sitting room but nobody was on reception to ask for an evening drink. We might have also found it helpful to have a little information about what to do or see in the area.

No 5 star hotel i have ever been in didnt have a bar. Didnt have a mini bar either.
I asked where could i have a drink and I was shown some garden furniture outside reception.
I asked for a local draught beer, hardly a demanding request really in a five star hotel but no, they only do bottles.
ok so no great shakes what do you ? oh we have Corona and we have Desperados.
So what else? We dont have anything else.
At this point i found the entire Basil Fawlty thing come over me. So i am in a wonderful looking French Chateau in a great part of France and the best and only two beers they can come up with are those two ? seriously?
It is no more than a house in one place with rooms in it and you breakfast in the shared reception room and the restaraunt is another building totally. Good luck if it is raining.
There was no toilet in the main hotel lower lobby we were told to go over the road to the restaraunt.
The duvet was full of lumps and had to be changed.
The toilet hadnt been cleaned properly and had "hairs" in it. Yuk!
I was tired after a long journey and really needed sleep but the guy wouldnt give me the key and i asked three times. He insisted on coming up to the room to show us how a light switch worked.
I think the biggest lie is the distance from Town. The 10 minute i was repeatedly told and sold on turned out to be 20 minutes to the edge and 25 into the centre and i dont walk slowly either.
This is NO 5 Star hotel by any stretch of the imagination, i cant work out how it can say it is.

We booked the spa villa and had paid a lot for it, on arrival we were shown the room but not told straight away that the sauna was not able to be used and when we went to use the steam room this was also not working and could not be fixed during our stay. I am awaiting to hear back from owner about some form of compensation. Jacuzzi pool was great and luckily the weather was hot so used during our stay.

On first impressions it is a very beautiful building with a lovely lounge and log fire which was welcome on one night when we returned from Honfleur very cold. The Cozy room was a fair size with a comfortable bed and the bathroom also was roomy but a poor shower which you had to hold and the bath was very small. We had a view of the garden which we knew when we booked, breakfast was good with cooked options of eggs, omelette and bacon which is rare in France. Also offered brown baguette which was a bonus.
Tea making facilities very scant, had to go down to reception to fetch milk on our first night, the night receptionist brought it up the second night and luckily had our own tea bags. Areas of the bathroom were shoddy, for example round the toilet was a brown stain, probably from water ingress. A glass of unique wine was 17 euros for a very small glass.

We stayed at Le Manoir on our way back from Brittany to Calais. it was a bit grand for an overnight stop but we loved the huge room which we were offered as a free upgrade. Without this the hotel might be seen as a little expensive. There is a short walk down to the beach (La Plage du Butin) on which you can walk for miles. The Manoir is a lovely old building in well manicured grounds mainly to the front. Meals are taken in a separate building, with views over the estuary to Le Havre docks, just down from the main hotel. In bad weather umbrellas are available. Dinner was expensive and the menu very short. The food quality was superb. I have to say the wine list was very expensive with no lower price options or half bottles. The quality of the wine (we had two glasses) was exceptional.
It would be quite a hard walk into the centre of Honfleur but very easy and straightforward to drive there.

Supposed to be a five star hotel which it has the potential to be but a lot of details to improve on. Upon arrival doorman sent me away to park my car and went to the room with my partner to start the check in without me despite her asking for them to wait for me. There was only one robe and one towel in the bathroom for a couples accommodation. No shampoo, body products or any conditioner available. Obviously no shaving kits or anything additional one could expect. A damaged bottle of soap half empty standing in the shower. No fridge in the room.
