We felt like we were in the heart of the action at this location. The breakfast was good, and the lady who helped us every morning was awesome! There is a restaurant beside the hotel that was really cute (with a fountain and outside area to sit), and we enjoyed a romantic meal. We walked out of the hotel, and we were right near the mini train tour. It was a quick tour that oriented us to the attractions nearby. There was a safe that fit my laptop.
The room had a bit of a weird smell, and the bathroom lighting was dim. The shower didn't have a door that closed, so it got a bit wet on the floor when showering.

Location is perfect, right off the Place de la Comédie
If you stay here, try to book a room on the front corner overlooking the Place de la Comédie. We had a room that overlooked an office building next door and people could see in our room. Our balcony was also a place where pigeons hung out so we couldn’t open the window for fear they would fly into the room.

We did have to change rooms, but they made it easy, and our new room was even better than our original. The hotel was centrally located—a quick walk from the train station and steps from the tram system.

The Hotel is in an excellent location, at the entry to the historic center and on the way to the train station. Our room with balcony is one of the best in the hôtel, The bed was very comfortable, nice linens, efficient maid service and very friendly staff. It was nice to be able to have a nice breakfast at the hôtel before going out site seeing.
The Hotel could use some upkeep. Paint in some areas was chipped or scratched. The lobby furniture had tears in the material. However this did not really effect the comfort of our stay.

I had arranged a late checkout prior to my arrival for an extra fee. I was only staying for 1 night and wanted a late checkout (happy to pay) when I went out early in the morning the guy at the desk assumed I had checked out when i hadn't, when I came back he said oh I thought you checked out I thought you left. Then I explained and asked about my late checkout and my conversation online, he said it was too complicated despite my willingness to pay. Made the day quite stressful despite my attempts to sort it all before my arrival.

The location is great, you cannot wish for a better place. The managers at the hotel and the staff members were very very helpful, they really made a huge difference in our stay. The historic charm of the hotel adds to the experience, the atmosphere is wonderful. We would definitely stay there again if we come to Montpellier.

Never having visited Montpellier before, it was a pleasent surprise, greatly enhanced by our stay at the incredible, historic Grand Hotel du Midi Montpellier - Opera Comedie. Anyone who appreciates historic lodgings will be overwhelmed by this lovely gem, with a location that can not be rivaled for access to the Place de la Comedie and all it has to offer. To say that the hotel provides an authentic experience is an understatement. The rooms are decorated in the manner of its sister theatre the Opera Comedie, just steps away. With the square at your feet, the winding streets of ancien Montpellier await to satiate your culinary desires, your love of theatre or street buskers, wonderful shopping, or a long leisurely aperitif watching the comedie of souls parading past your table. Or better yet, ask for (or beg for) room 301 or its' sister rooms below, and admire a grand view from your hotel room, or from the bar/restaurant below.
Our stay was immersive perfection. The hotel staff, especially Gaetan, have ensured we will return to this glorious hotel and this beautiful city again and again.

i'm an interiour designer the location is wonderful. The front of the hotel the exterior could use a little Love. It could use on either side of the entrance to large earns with two really beautiful top Ari pots. The inside is very cluttered very dysfunctional on Kent looking messy the front desk is very un appealing the night staff I believe his name is I think he's British. He was really outgoing so wonderfully came to my room twice to help me with my safe and the TV he even helped to open the elevator with my bags. The other staff members were not so helpful. The bar area is like a senior citizens home. There's nothing appetising about it. I didn't have breakfast there it was very on inviting no one really actually said. Are you having breakfast with us explaining you know the price of it? You know it's going to be a wonderful French breakfast, blah blah blah European breakfast there there was no nothing there was no explaining about the Art in the other room. The Maid was wonderful very clean. The room was very clean. I would stress that in my room. All the surfaces have to be dusted. they're all dusty. The cleaning is done every day but the room needs to have all the woodwork washed and cleaned. It's really dusty and I think you could at least put two bottles of water in the room and two mugs for coffee and two decent creamers and substitute sugars and a perhaps two spoons for people who are bringing along maybe some yoghurt or something that they need a spoon or knife it's a four star hotel not a two star hotel and it would be nice to have the option of soap in the shower rather than this lotion that you have that is very difficult to get out of the container and the towels are very scratchy very very scratchy.
