They put some plastic mattress protection on bed which make us sweat all night, it was one of the worse nights in bed ever! The air conditioning simply doesn’t work. The toilet cubicle was very small making it difficult to walk in . The fridge in the room doesn’t work either. When we mentioned all this at reception they simple weren’t interested!

The best thing about the stay was our evening meal. The food was of a good standard and served hot, however there wasn't much choice on the menu and they were very slow to serve our drinks.
This was our first and will definitely be our last visit to the Mercure at Tours Nord.
The rest is best forgotten. Our first impression on walking through the door was that the hotel was dirty and in need of refurbishment. I then made the mistake of using the toilet facilities on the ground floor. The foul odour of putrid drains hit me as soon as I opened the door. It was exceedingly unpleasant and not what I expected from a hotel like the Mercure. I informed reception about the foul odour but they did not seem particularly interested. Then we went up to our room and found that the corridor outside our room was almost completely blocked with laundry trolleys and dirty laundry lying on the floor.

This time was really disappointing. Given that it is a stopover hotel, we just want to get into our room, make ourselves tea/coffee, grab a quick dinner and sleep.
Kettle didn't work, so reported it. Receptionist came to investigate. Said she would get another one. She forgot. Had to chase. They sent someone to repair it while we were at dinner. Unable to repair it and they didn't have a replacement to give us. What kind of hotel doesn't have a spare kettle knocking around?
I'm all for reusing and recycling, but the wooden card they gave us for the room had a chunk out of it (was clearly very old and should have been disposed of).
Also, there were 3 glasses on the floor outside our room when we arrived and they were still there when we left the next day.
Finally, the soap dispenser in the bathroom dropped off the wall because it had been stuck there with that sticky foam stuff (totally unsuitable for a heavy use hotel soap dispenser, which should have been screwed to the wall).
If this had been the first stay here I wouldn't have gone back. It is normally better than this. Standards have slipped.

The hotel is perfect for transit, very easy to get back on the motorway. We were on our way back from Spain, and we needed a stop before reaching Calais. The reception is open 24/7 which is really good as we booked in the afternoon whilst driving, and as we encountered traffic, we were worried we'd be too late. We arrived around 23:30 and the lady in reception was very welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious, and the sofa bed for my daughter, who's 7, was basically a double bed. The bathroom was modern and clean with enough towels. Breakfast was great with lots of options.
Nothing to criticise really. It is exactly as described on the website.

Located just off the motorway, and only a short drive from the nearby shopping centre, fast food restaurants, and petrol station. It was surprisingly quiet, which was nice after a long drive. Comfortable bedsheets, but the mattress protectors make one sweat.
The coffee machine at breakfast only seems to deliver half-full mugs, which is a bit mean compared to other hotels in the same group, and other competing hotels of similar, and even lower, standing.
As we had previously experienced the in-house restaurant, and weren't very impressed (quite a lot of reheated food from frozen, and rather unpalatable vegetarian dishes), we dined out, which means driving, albeit not very far. This is the disadvantage of staying in a hotel outside of the town centre.
Mercure hotels used to have a fairly good reputation for decent, and reasonably priced, in-house dining. It would appear that that reputation is long gone, and has been on a downward trend for some time now, as the dining experience in other Mercure we have stayed in throughout France over the past 5 years or so has been similar. This one is no exception to that general trend.

I was really happy with this hotel. We are always seeking out dog friendly hotels in France and this one was really accommodating. The bedroom was a good size clean and comfortable and the breakfast was plentiful. Location was easy to find and close to the motorway on our route to Spain.

We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant and overall found the hotel reasonable value for an overnight stay. It would be much nicer to be there in the summer, as they have a nice terrace and outdoor swimming pool, but sadly we were travelling out of season and the pool was shut.

Room service available! Breakfast fantastic.
Good hot shower. Bed huge and comfortable.
Great for staying with our FOUR dogs. Reasonable charge. Nice grassed areas with small woods.
Rooms dated. Badly in need of update.
Electrics and fittings tired. Previous room was better. But we did ask for ground floor so maybe not updated yet?

The restaurant was very good, food and wine excellent at dinner, efficient and pleasant staff. Breakfast also good until I realised the “gluten-free muesli” wasn’t! I was blowing my nose with runny eyes all day! They need to take allergies seriously.
We could have our dog in our room but not in the restaurant. WiFi good. EV chargers worked.
We never like the separate toilet with no hand wash basin in it but that’s the norm in France. I’ve already mentioned the NOT gluten-free “gluten-free muesli”.

This was the perfect stopover on our road trip
The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were large enough, the breakfast and dinner were very good, the wifi worked without a glitch, and the parking was directly in front of the hotel.
The scrambled eggs for breakfast weren't great, maybe a bit too much industrial.
