The grand architecture of this magnificent and expansive colonial inspired 5 Star hotel is rare to see in Bali. The infinity pool overlooks the island of Nusa Penida and there is a natural spring lake below the pool. Enjoy dining outside or inside at the restaurant that views the beachfront.
Dinner was very reasonably priced and many options. Alcohol as always in Bali is similar priced to Australia and wine is always at a higher premium.
The staff offer excellent service and there is a genuine love of the hotel they work at.
Be prepared that although it is only a 7 year old building that salt water has rusted anything with metal fixtures and that some paintwork is already peeling.
It looks like a thirty year old build.

Rumah Luwih is a gem of a hotel! Everything from the beginning made an impression on me - the grand white-marble lobby with traditional Indonesian frniture, high ceilings and a massive staircase in the middle of the hall, super friendly and helpful staff. Rumah Luwih feels like a hotel from a fairytale where you are taken care of each step of your stay and at the same time given enough space to rest and relax. The views are incredible - you can see both sunrise over the beach and the sunset over the mountains. The room was cozy, spacious and beautifully decorated with a big bathroom and all the necessary (and more!) amenities. I slept really well, the noise isolation is amazing, you can't hear anything except the sea and the birds. This place is my forever favourite getaway for a true relaxation.

The hotel itself is an architectural marvel in colonial style, one of a kind for Bali, the swimming pool is very long, probably about 50m. Great ocean view. Excellent and supportive staff. .
The central air conditioning is probably old and thus problematic. This however is not related to many halls and conference rooms that are open and accessible any time. It was noisy and inefficient at least in the bigger guest rooms we tried, obviously required repair or replacement. In the gym: virtually none of the equipment was in working order. In spite of the access to a beautiful black sand beach, we were warned not to swim, as it may be dangerous. Only for surfers. The surrounding area is not really touristically developed, so overally this hotel looks more suited for those singles or couples who want to be left alone for some time to relax, or concentrate on some creative activity, such as writing, painting, sex, programming etc.

This is a stunning resort that didn’t make the most of its appeal. The staff are fantastic and extremely gracious and helpful. The architecture is beautiful.
The monotomous piped music… Like being in a departmental store lift without reprieve. silence would have been golden. some of the fittings are tired and need upgrading.

Very remote hotel, very few internetional customer, breakfast is very very weak. Fried eggs and fruits are only choice for western. Restaurant menu is limited and expensive. Beach is short with black sand and you cannot swim in the sea. I would not recommend to stay here if you dont have to.

The scenary, architecture, the size of the room, friendly staff
The hotel was actually very nicely built but apparently it is not very well maintained. The room's paint was flaking and some of the furniture looks old, stained and still there. The lighthing was not consistently setup, the place just look shabby than it should be.
Staff could not speak English, breakfast options were no where near 5 star hotel.
This place could've been much better. We hope the management will make a serious efffort to elevate the hotel to where it should be.

My friend ate at the restaurant one evening, had the laksa and got food poisoning.
I requested to hire a motorbike and the hotel quoted a day cost that was nearly twice what I have organised and paid through other hotels. They were negotiable, which was good.

Room was very nice with a lot of space. We got a free upgrade due to our air conditioning not working. The view with the pool and the ocean is great. The facilities work well.
Some small flies seem to be living in the bathroom area. Some die overnight in the sink. Otherwise, everything was good. There was nothing much nearby, but we were here for a wedding reception.

The lay out is nice but the building needs a refurbishment.
Some damages such as the toilet seat ( loose and not smooth/ so worn out). The window pane at the bathroom is partially open ( broken). The sliding door was stuck and we needed to call hotel staff to help us open. Butbtye worse is the ac that is directing to out heads when we sleep/ lie down on the bed. And nothing we can do about it cause it is central ac. We were not able to sleep all night due to incovenience from the ac blow. The swimming pool did not look clean and enticing enough for us to swim

A very nice, relaxing stay! We coincided with the low season and had the pool and jacuzzi to ourselves! Service was excellent! We would like to particularly commend our host Ari from the restaurant— superb service, good (self taught!) English, going the extra mile to ensure we had enough to eat for our takeout breakfast (we had to checkout early cos of early flight). Proximity to the black beach was also a plus! Many local eateries in the beach area.
Just a suggestion: would be nice to update some dated facilities such as providing usb ports instead of only power plugs, and combining separate hot and cold water taps. The table where water bottles were placed also had many ants. The pool is amazing. Super nice shape and different areas, which makes it nice for staying with a child. Great property and very nice building. The breakfast was great and the restaurant staff was amazing, thanks a lot to Ani and her manager.
The hotel is super outdated. They are doing some renovations, which are limiting the usage of the pool (limited beds) and the spa. However, it’s hard to imagine that all needed renovations are done soon:
- The gym is only one machine and the room literally stands under water. There is most likely mold under the carpet.
- We had a huge area of mold on the wall of our room. They then gave us an upgrade to another room. However, this room should have not been rented out in the first place.
- The new room was a life danger for kids as the fence of the balcony was loose
- The fire alarm was taped as it was “too sensitive”. Well, I firmly believe you should not manipulate fire alarms. They should be sensitive.
At the moment I would not stay there again. Maybe I would give it another chance in a year or two. But a lot of things have to be updated.

It was a beautiful grand building but didn’t have any vibe and a lot of things on the menu were sold out or they didn’t have milk one day for breakfast, small things that could of been fixed but they didn’t try to.
They asked us to pay a $300aud room deposit for food and drinks and after our stay they said they would refund but haven’t refunded yet and it’s been well over a month. We have spoken to our bank and received receipts but the hotel is not taking responsibility so we’ve lost $300 and the stay was average. No good restaurants around, the restaurant at the hotel was slow and not always stocked with foods available or drinks. No atmosphere or in-house entertainment or vibe.

It is a luxurious hotel with large, clean bedrooms. The restaurant has reasonably priced food given the quality of the hotel. The swimming pool is great. It is right next to Bali Safari. The gardens are amazing.
During the time of our stay the waves at the beach looked big and not suitable for swimming. I didn't see anyone swimming there. Probably good for surfing, but didn't see anyone either. Also the beach has a lot of rubbish, making it not very enjoyable. Overall, the hotel itself is great and very well maintained.

Rooms are very well equiped, confy and quite luxury.
We slept very well. It is quite and calm.
The view is nice.
Breakfast is very good as well.
The location is practical to visit around the rice terrace, the old capital or other temples.
Despite a very nice staff in the evening the kitchen struggled to provide a good service - we waited more than an hour to get our food so this is a bit disappointed v/ the standing of the hotel.

We have booked a room for 4 persons including breakfast. Hotel did not respect that and claimed their rule is 2pax/ room and requested extra charge for additional beds and breakfast.
Finally we have received 1 extra bed (still not enough for 4 pax), however the payment for the breakfast remained unsolved.
All this arguing late in the night, after long transfer from Flores made the experience very poor.

The property is set in a good location. And looks like a dreamy, picturesque mansion. Its close proximity to the Bali Safari and Marine Park was an added bonus to us.
We went to the restaurant at the hotel for both dinner and breakfast. The dinner was served very late, almost 2 hours after taking our order. The food arrived cold as well. Breakfast was good. But didn’t have many options.

I’ve wanted to stay at this hotel for so long, and the opportunity finally came up over Nyepi—it was everything I had hoped for and more. The property is absolutely beautiful, regal, and immaculately clean. My upper-level room was light, bright, and free from any mold, making for such a fresh and comfortable stay.
A very quiet location away from the bustle of Bali.
The grounds are simply spectacular, and the pool… well, it felt like 500 meters long! Swimming there was an absolute dream. The energy of this place is incredible—peaceful, luxurious, and right on a little beach, making it feel even more special.
The staff were incredibly kind, and their English was great, making everything smooth and welcoming. For a five-star experience in such a quiet, magical location, the pricing was beyond fair. Considering the value—including the amazing food—I could have stayed somewhere in Ubud for the same price and had a much less enjoyable experience. Instead, I was standing on the beach, looking back at the hotel, thinking, "Oh my, my dream has come true."
So very thankful for this stay—it exceeded all expectations. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately, we weren't able to experience this hotel to the full extent as we arrived very late and had to leave early the next morning to get to the boat harbour. Consequently we only saw one person, who checked us in! When we left we just about saw the beautiful breakfast area and pool but it was before dawn so didn't see much. What a shame, it looked like a beautiful hotel. The room was spacious, clean and with a nice sized en-suite.
Would have been nice to see it in the daylight!

The hotel is breathtakingly beautiful. It has an amazing walking track, with views of the beach. The staff is exceptionally professional, and the chef ARADA created amazing culinary art everyday.
The only thing lacking was a treadmill in the gym, rest the facilities, services, and everything else were on point.
The beds were huge and extremely comfortable.

Enjoyed that my pizza was brought to the function room so we can play chess and listen to relaxing music while eating.
The hotel was perfect, but the location was not convinient. Had to hire private driver.. I would have appreciated a shuttle to safari. We walked, but location is not built for safely walking due to traffic. No one walks.
I would have liked if hotel had a shuttle to Ubud or nearby city for shopping.

Very friendly staff which helped us with renting a scooter and excellent chef and waiters. Well maintained place that’s very big. Extremely spacious rooms. AC works very well (which wasn’t the case in other places).
It’s beautiful colonial style but you can see that it’s quite old. The gym has old and not many equipment. You want swim in the ocean (at least in rainy season) because the waves are pretty high and the beach and water are a bit dirty (it’s a public beach so not the fault of the hotel). You need a scooter or take Gojek/ Grab because there’s nothing around.
