The location was beautiful, the staff were exceptional and the food was beautiful.

Could do with some renovations, for a 5 star it's starting to look a bit shabby in areas.

The staff are excellent and very friendly. The grounds of the resort are beautiful and there is a network of paths that meander around the site. Everything is perfectly clean.

Noisy motorway runs nearby. Difficult to book pool / spa. Quite pricey in the restaurants.

Fantastic location and grounds. Wonderful staff throughout. Couldn’t have been more helpful. Jose in restaurant was super. Bright airy and really comfortable rooms. Pool area well kept and managed. Very enjoyable dinner in restaurant. Great selection at breakfast with freshly cooked hot dishes. The weather was also great!

One meal in the bar was poor but made up for by the staff.

The bathroom in my room was not very clean. I don’t think that the hotel is up to a 5star rating. Our room key would not work after 4 times of gojng to the reception to get new keys. Our breakfast wasn’t nice either. Quite disappointed as I feel like I didn’t get a 5 star experience for the price

Room was very good and comfortable and the food in the golf club was very good nd whole scenery was beautiful all the staff we so nice and well spoken

Breakfast was very poor my girlfriend had scrambled eggs they had the weirdest of texture as the were bought in and not fresh eggs used hard and very chewing the soda bread was full of treacle and was two sweet I order sausages and soft eggs sausages were like rubber and eggs nearly well done would expect better hot breakfast from a 5 star resort also went for a swim the water was freezing and the same in the jacuzzi then we asked could we use the highro pool we were told that is was €25 per person to used it which I think is abit of a joke and abit to much just to use a highro pool

We really enjoyed our stay at Fota, it was so relaxing and the grounds are stunning. Breakfast was lovely and dinner at the Fota Restaurant was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will be back! Negatives: the burger in the Amber restaurant was very dry and the bun was hard. Food is pricey in the restaurants. There is an additional €25 per person charge to use the spa facilities, this is usually complimentary for hotel guests in other places we have stayed.

staff were very friendly, not too formal. Bar staff were delightful, live jazz with Phil Collins was superb, made our evening. Food was good, nothing special but tasty. Room service was excellent. Cocktails were well made.

Decor was a little jaded, some marks on the carpet in our room...skirting in bathroom was mdf was was swollen because of damp. Public areas whilst ok were a bit tired, but fine, I wasn't losing sleep over it! Again, it didn't really faze me but it was the first time in a 5 star property that we brought our own bags to the room, weren't asked if we wanted assistance, usually our luggage is whisked away....also as it is essentially a golf resort there guests are a bit straight but friendliness of staff made up for this

Very clean room, really comfy large bed - could not find the wife !! Good bathroom facilities, friendly housekeeping staff. Very good breakfast and served by friendly staff. Gardens and grounds were very nice and well maintained - at 82, would have loved the loan of a golf buggy to wander further.

Tablet in room was very out of date and out of sync with the restaurants in both menus, food/ wine availability . IT department need to action changes. Our evening meal was stressful and not a happy event, especially as it was a special occasion for us - together for 63 years ?. Firstly no mention of The Cove being closed when we checked in. Our request for a decent Gran Reserva Rioja wine was not met but a rather average Crianza opened at the bar (not at table) BUT I was charged the 70 euro for the Gran Reserva, it was only amended when I queried bill. This form of "sharp practice" is not acceptable in these times. No real apology offered or even a coffee or liqueur. The menu on the Tablet showed a large sirloin steak on offer but the Clubhouse bar menu only offered a 6oz sirloin steak sandwich. Please don't place outdated menus in the elevators.

Everything this place is amazing. Not only was the location great but the staff were exceptional. The spa manager went above and beyond to help us after not finding our reservation for the pool. She made an exception and allowed us and the kids to have a swim the food was amazing. The animal park next-door was great being so close to the city of Cobh Was amazing as well Breakfast was top notch staff over the top friendly

Fota is a nice hotel with good amenities and great dining options.

It just is not worth the price and it is far below the standard of a 5 star hotel. The hotel is really starting to show its age. The decor is becoming dated and the property is showing signs of wear and tear. For example, nicks on the doors, worn carpets and furniture being in poor condition. Drinks and food are outrageously priced. The spa facilities cost €25 per guest to use which is shocking considering we had already paid over €600 for two nights B&B. The “regular” pool was overrun with children and aloof parents who allowed their children to use “adults only” facilities like the jacuzzi. This made relaxing impossible. The hotel needs a full renovation and proper enforcement of policies to make it worth the high price tag.
