The grounds are amazing: gorgeous gardens, oldskool glamour, the buffalos walking around the grounds (and swimmingpool) were so cute. Nice views on the Mekong river.

All in all a nice stay and I dont regret it. Just a little bit tlc could do wonders.
The rooms can use a little bit tlc. (Mouldy patches on the wall in the bedroom (room 114), shower drain not always functioning 100%)
Food and drinks could be priced in a more attractive way so people would enjoy it more and it would be profitable for the hotel. The staff spoke English, but communication was hard sometimes. Location is amazing in terms of views, but a little bit far from the centre. (But the hotel arranges complimentary shuttle service, so that is nice)

beautiful quite location, beautiful grounds and view. room clean comfortable with beautiful river view.
We had to call management twice in less than 24 hours because of a stopped up toilet. Housekeeping did come and do repairs however there was no call from management nor any offer to change our room. We noted rooms to both sides of us were empty. On exit again not even an apology from management. This is very expensive compared to other hotels in beautiful Luang Prabang I would not stay here again.

This is a really beautiful property with a fantastic view over Mekong river. Food was outstanding both for breakfast and dinner. Lovely place, would stay again given a chance.
There is a complimentary bus to the center of the town however the schedule is rather inconvenient. Particularly in the morning and late evening it ought to be once an hour instead of every other hour.

The hotel is very spacious though it is not well maintained which is a pity for such a beautiful location.
Rooms are not insulated so we could hear our neighbour snoring and housekeeping staff talking in the morning which woke us up.
Not walking distance to the center.

Lots to like about the hotel. While the hotel is out of town, it's not that far away and the hotel runs a free shuttle service to and from the heart of Luang Prabang. The hotel is very quiet which was nice and relaxing - it reminded me of a country retreat. The room itself was big and comfortable, with very modern amenities. Breakfast each morning was fantastic, as was the dinner. The staff were very friendly as well.
The unreliability of the wifi was disappointing and caused me much frustration.

Peace is the first word that comes to mind when i think of this gorgeous hotel. The tranquility is just awesome! Add to that astonishing views on the hills and river. Colonial style hotel with friendly, attentive staff. Their restaurant is near the river, so beautiful views guaranteed. Highly recommended!
The Wifi didn't work well in the room, we needed to get on the terrace to receive signal.

Very quiet and peaceful surroundings on historic property.
Frequent free shuttle bus to and from historic center ( pick up and drop off at Post Office- last pick up 22:00 and one nightly boat ( at 16:30 only). Very convenient to have shuttle as well as bikes to borrow.
Lovely porch for each room some looking at Mekong or onto the grounds.
Worst coffee we had in Laos!
Make breakfast simpler: Many choices but most not very tasty.

I asked for the corner suite room with the beautiful view as posted on Booking.com. I didn't expect that it would be as exactly as it is shown! Lovely room, beautiful scenery! When I saw the Mekong River view, I didn't want to leave the balcony! Overall, the grounds are very clean and the buildings are well preserved. The food choices are mostly local but fresh. I'd definitely stay here again when I return to Luang Prabang.
Not really a bad thing but the grounds are huge and the paths can be quite confusing. You may want to wake up a it earlier to enjoy the morning view while having breakfast at the restaurant. Also, our room did not have a bidet.

Everything else! The view was fabulous- we had room 121 with a balcony looking out on the mighty Mekong, what a view! The staff were very friendly and attentive. It's a little out of town so they offer a regular shuttle service. The pool was refreshing too. Would love to go back.
The breakfast wasn't the best I've ever had (my omelette was undercooked, I don't mind slightly undercooked yolk but not runny white).

I loved that it was a bit out of town,
We got a free upgrade but the hotel was under construction so most of the hotel looked close but really happy with the size of our room.
Amazing view of the river.
Loved how quite it was.
And we had the pool to ourselves
There was only about 6 people staying at the hotel so it was perfect for us.
For the price I paid for our 5 night the breakfast was honestly horrible!
I completely understand its a poor country, Im not looking for luxury breakfast but there was always a lack of food the bread was stale and just small options for a 5 star hotel.
There was never any hot water
When you wanted to have a bath the water was warm.
I dont like having my bath towels Changed everyday
There was a sign saying if you do not want your towels changed leave them hanging out if you want them changed leave them on the floor so I left them hanging on but every time I came back to my room after the room was clean the towels had been changed.

The whole complex was delightful, gardens beautiful and well kept with a diverse array of plants and trees. Rooms and facilities were excellent. The views over the Mekong river were spectacular. We could have just enjoyed staying on the grounds for the whole of our visit.
There is a free shuttle bus which runs frequently to and from the town. There are many Wats to see in town as well as various shops with all vareties of woven goods. We took a sunset dinner cruise on the Mekong one evening. Great event with delicious local food and some cultural music and dances for entertainment.
Nothing, much of the time we had the place to ourselves. Loved the amnience, tranquil, thoughful staff, very helpful.

It's a very, very beautiful place! Amazing landscapes and well-groomed territory. It feels like a lot of work and soul has been put into it. In the evenings you can admire the sunset in silence. The room had a beautiful balcony overlooking the Mekong. The hotel is a short distance from the city center, but you can always get there by taxi or by tuk-tuk. It's the second time I've been here, I came to show this beautiful place to my wife.
During our stay, unfortunately, the swimming pool was closed and we did not have time to go to another place (where the hotel provided transfer).

Stayed for 5 nights in total and spend quite some time within the premises as I mainly visited to wind down from a busy period at work. I dont regret it at all. Can definitely recommend this hotel. - Very friendly and attentive staff - Beautiful location right next to the river - Spacious hotel with big garden, rooms with character and good facilities. It even has a small museum! - Restaurant serves nice food, from western dishes to Thai. - Fitness quite elaborate and equipment brand new. - Shuttle service to and from town. As the hotel was relatively empty due to COVID, unfortunately, the shuttle service was even in demand and could be used at anytime, which was great!
There arent really negatives to this hotel. It has been great! Below points are mainly nitty gritty and more like the cherry on the cake: - Swimming pool closes at 7pm. Missed opportunity in my opinion as some lighting would make it a great place to be in the evening, as the pool is beautiful. - Big parts of the garden werent lighted during the evening, which is a pity as its the selling point of the hotel. - Spa and second restaurant were closed, but I guess that was because of the limited number of guests due the recent reopening of the country. - Breakfast was quite basic and inconsistent. Sometimes it did include certain items and sometimes not while I ordered the same a couple of times. - The hotel needed some maintenance here and there, especially painting and cleaning of tiles and walls outside. However, they already started with that. Awesome!

slightly half-hearted approach to converting the old palace into a luxury hotel, e. g. great pool but then lounger area around it in a bit of disrepair. in theory you can order drinks/food there, too but no personnel- you have to call a number to order but no menu. one umbrella for all loungers combined etc. we didnt really mind but for a 5* place some aspects of how it is run fall a bit short of expectations

Beautiful grounds on the riverside with lots of historical flair with a slightly morbid charme - which is something I like. Nicely decorated and romantic. Peaceful and calming setting Riverview room was beautiful, too. Only 15 meters away from the Mekong with spacious balcony to sit, watch the river passing by and listen the cicadas singing. Only minus is the small bathroom but thats not a big deal for me at all. Breakfast was alright but nothing to write home about. So I skipped and got my food mostly outside the hotel Good: Bicycle rent free of charge to get you downtown in about 20 minutes.
Unfortunately there is no soundproof towards the hallway - which really is pretty annoying when extensive door slamming starts at 5:00 in the morning by people who are leaving to join the alms giving ceremony downtown. Most staff members are very nice and polite. Of all things just the check-in was a bit strange: No welcome drink was offered, no explanation of the hotel...

The Grand is the most beautiful and grand hotel in Luang Prabang. We enjoyed it even more than the Amantaka. The hotel is on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Mekong, thus the view is spectacular. It might not have the convenience of hotels in the center of the town, but it has a sense of privacy and grandness that is simply unbeatable. The entire property was so beautiful, enchanted with historical and architectural charm. Being in the hotel is like entering a time warp. The pool by the lawn is a gleaming jewel. As for the distance to town, it's a 10-minute tuck tuck ride, which isn't bad at all. We can't wait to go back to stay there again!

The place looked snd felt exactly like a creepy, upscale rehab facility: sedated and bewildered white-robbed people meandering the extremely well kept lawn/ pasture. Soft harp music playing in the background. Empty hallways leading nowhere. Here and there a uniformed member of the staff, hurried on some mission. A gate guard that offered a military salute to anyone entering in a car. Lights out at 9 pm.

The location was great and the view on the Mekong was stunning, although after the first.day the pollution got so bad we could barely see the river (which of course is not the fault of the hotel, but just be careful if you are going to Liang Prabang in late March). the property had beautiful gardens facing the Mekong, we loved walking the paths and sitting on our balcony or the patios overlooking the view.
we also loved the simple, elegant decoration of the rooms. it was very relaxing and calming.
the pool was well kept
the chairs on the balcony were not very comfortable to sit in for a long time. the back was not very high and they were not made for lounging. maybe adding a pillow for the back of the seat would help.
also, the construction noise was quite loud during the day which took away from the quiet peacefulness we desired as we spent time outdoors on the grounds.

the view was really nice and able to see the Mekong River from the room balcony. We had free upgrade to the suite and able to see the Mekong River from the balcony. since it is a suite, the room is really big as well as the bathroom. Good breakfast and really relaxing to enjoy the view during breakfast. Nice pool and gym, well design room and very helpful staffs. Really value for money for our stay.
Take note that this hotel is a bit far from the town center (5- 6 KM) since there is a free shuttle service provided and it shouldn't be a big issue. You just need to plan your time carefully or you can choose to take the Tuk Tuk from the town which cost around USD4 to 5 per trip. in general, the road condition in Luang Prabang is not so good and hence suggest taking the shuttle service. first service to town is 845am and last one return from the town is 10pm. they have 5-6 rounds in a day.
