The noise from the road outside is near to unbearable. The exhaust gas gets inside the room and is uncomfortable. Either the facilities are quite outdated or it isnt cleaned enough such that the rooms are quite dusty. Definitely need room slippers. The room also needs a hair dryer.

They overbooked and my reserved room type wasn't available until the 4th night of my reservation. When I did finally get to the correct room type there was a large hole in the floor of the room.
Both rooms we were in were only mostly clean but not what I would call thoroughly clean. Towels smelled like mildew.
Lighting in both rooms was dark even with all the lights on and window curtains open.

We did not get what we booked and asked every day to change the room, but the staff was not helpful at all and said everyday that we should speak with the manager, but he was never available! Also the property did not respond to the requests we made over booking.com
Furthermore it was really loud, not very clean and the toilet flush was not working properly. When we left they promised, that the will get back to us with a form of compensation, but we didnt hear anything from them.
I would never stay here again.

The location was amazing: 10 minutes walking to the Palacio de bellas Artes. Also metro station rigt in front of the hostel. Great co-working area and very good internet.
The rooms could be cleaner, especially the bathroom.

The location is great and the room itself was ok. The beds are comfortable and they had 2 pillows each which is a nice touch. However, I did have to ask for a towel and sheets as these were not on the bed when I checked in (2 hours later than the scheduled 3pm checkin I might add).
Staff is rude and unpleasant. They don't seem to care about the guests at all. I was there at 3:30pm for check-in, but they said the room isn't ready yet and to wait 20 minutes. No problem, but then after 20 minutes they said again it's not ready and to wait another 20 minutes. Again, fine. But then it still wasn't ready and in fact it took an hour longer for the room to be ready. So in the end, it was after 5pm instead of 3pm as posted everywhere AND when I got to the room there still weren't even sheets or towels so I had to go back and ask. Meanwhile, the staff was quite rude to other guests staying there.

We experienced a late check in for 2 hours which is not up to standard. We was transit from other countries n expected to settle down in our room at the according check-in time which is 1400. However, our room was not ready till 1600.
Moreover, we was assigned to a room which is next to the road and it was really noisy with the traffic during midnight.

The entrance to the building is the only redeemable part of the property.
I do not recommend it. This is not accommodation for travelers as promoted on social media, but an accommodation for immigrants waiting to enter the United States. What you will find are Colombians, Venezuelans, Cubans and Russians. Families with children and pets live there. Almost no travelers. The building is gloomy and dark from floors 1 to 6, the hallways are dirty, have poor ventilation, and it smells like frying all the time on floor 1 where the common dining room is, and the same in the private kitchen on the second floor. Bad neighborhood to stay. The check-in process is awful, they don't guide you on anything other than the Wi-Fi code and that the kitchen is on the 1st floor, they don't tell you about activities or any other orientation. They send you to check everything in the app or WhatsApp group. At reception, they are not friendly, and it is obvious that they only want to make the minimum effort or less. You wait for the check in time, but then you get to the room, and you find unmade beds, in my case, they moved my room 2 times and none of them were ready at 3pm, they also don't explain to you that the sheets, blanket and towel must be given by them. If you have to sleep in a room that faces the interior patio of the building, you won't be able to sleep on Friday and Saturday, since there is a party both days, the insulation of the windows is zero, and it feels like the DJ were in your room. The rooms that have a bathroom are humid, extractors do not work, and the ceiling is full of mold, they are not cleaned daily, and they rarely smell cleaning products. The floor of the rooms is not cleaned either, if you look under the bed you will see it full of dust like it was in my room. Constant water cuts. The kitchens are poorly equipped and quite dirty, as are the refrigerators. The internet disconnects often. If you are a digital nomad like me, look for another option.

The Selina chain always has coworking and a good internet, as well as a bar/restaurant inside the place, that can be very convenient. Also the room had a private bathroom and not many beds.
The region is not the safest, specially at night. The walls are quite thin so you can hear the other rooms. The room and the bathroom were really dirty and had no facilities, also it was really cold with no heat and I had to ask at reception for covers and that was not enough, because the building is quite old and could not contain the heat.

The Design is pretty nice and it’s quite calm for a hostel. They always have activities and really try to engage their guests! Bilal and Andrew do a great job.
The furniture are quite worn, especially the bathroom facilities. You have to be aware that the hostel is next to a very busy street and it can get quite noisy during the night. Furthermore it always smells a bit like mold when you enter the room …

Nice size bedroom with private shower. Location is strategic to get around, but not the best neighborhood to walk around at night.
The overall maintance and cleaning leaves much to be desired. The place is very run down. I had to go to the reception to ask for toilet paper and soap cause there was no room keeping.
Every single night same hostel residents hanged around the kitchen talking loud, smoking and leaving dirty dishes and tables.
Definitely not one of the good Selinas.

It is cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Noisy - rooms on the 1st floor are above the hotel/hostel's night club (which they don't mention at check-in) so it's impossible to sleep through the bass and vibration. Guests are also noisy and the walls thin, so even when we managed to change room we still did not sleep.
Dirty - bed sheets looked clean but that was about it. Bathroom was covered in hair, stains in the sink and toilet, and the floor was also covered in hair, dust, pins, dirt, etc. Room smelled like cigarette smoke, either because of the precious guest or because the window didn't close(!). The walls were also patched up and not repainted, it was overall very run down and not well maintained.
Area - the area felt unsafe compared to other areas of Mexico City. We spent the rest of our stay in Zona Rosa, which despite being a lively area for nightlife was still a much quieter and more pleasant stay than downtown.
Cost - while our room was a "good" price for a budget, you can book nicer hotels for a similar price in better areas of the city.

Really friendly staff, great trips bookable from the desk. Fun things to do at night. Cats!! The coffee downstairs. The bar next door for tacos and drinks.
Often the bathrooms were not as clean as I would have hoped. The cat litter tray on the fourth to fifth floor stairs needed cleaning more regularly for the cats benefit too!

SCAM - do NOT visit this property. This is not like a normal Selina. The rooms look nothing like the pictures and there are lots of rats nearby.
Upon arrival we were shown to our room which already had people inside. They then panicked and showed us to another room which was a large room with barely anything in it and run down. There was NO hot water. When we asked if we could have a different room or a move elsewhere to a different hotel, the staff assured us that they would refund us and even sent proof that they had, confirming it would take 3-5days. After 5-6 days there was no refund and when I got in touch with the property I was send extremely rude messages suggesting I was lying that the refund had not come through. When I asked for further proof that the refund had been initiated, they send me a random receipt of some money going to an account that was not mine. When I told them this they again suggested I was lying and were extremely rude, messaging in capital letters. After some more back and forth they told me I actually had to get in touch with booking.com to confirm the refund, when I did this, and booking.com contacted them they either ignored them, or lied to say we shouldn’t get a refund. They further confirmed they had already done the refund on their side which was obviously a lie. Awful experience and they have stopped responding.

Have during the last years several times stayed at Selina and every time been very satisfied. Especially like and enjoy the atmosphere and the mixed crowd from backpackers to families and with a lot of nice facilities like kitchen, coworking space, restaurant, bar etc etc. The location on top is slam bang just a short walk from many of the major sights in the center of the city

Super central to the historical district, if you’re happy walking everything is around there. Co working is a great environemnt and handy in property
Our rooms fan didn’t work and the curtains wouldn’t close so sadly we woke every morning with the sunrise and the room was very warm. We couldn’t open our windows because the street was quite loud. Co working tables could use a couple more wipe downs!

I could not extend the reservation , staff seems careless would not try to accommodate an extension , gave me an exorbitant price of like 60% more of what i paid initially . Ive stayed here before and previous staff were very accommodating when extending , giving diff options its a big property.

Worst hostel in Ciudad de México ! Don’t come here. There is no cleaning in the rooms, main areas, the kitchen is disgusting, the tools to cook are broken, no mugs, no soap, no nothing!! The fridges don’t even work
