Having learned our lesson at another hotel, we opted for a superior room with two double beds. This put us on the second floor with plenty of space to put things and plenty of natural light. (The rooms downstairs looked a bit dark, so we made the right choice.) The beds were quite comfortable, the bathroom very nice, and there were lots of places to put things in the room. The room, bathroom and entire facility were very clean, and staff followed covid protocols. The room was cleaned daily. There are some nice places to sit outside in a garden atmosphere on the second level where we were as well as on the first level. Overall, the hotel is lovely and appealing.
Location of the hotel is a bit further from the center than where we stayed our first time in Merida, which was actually quite nice. It put us closer to Paseo Montejo and close to Santa Lucia Parque and the restaurants there. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
I also have to give a shout out to a restaurant on our street, Calle 51, a few blocks down on the right as you head towards Santa Lucia called Sasha's Urban Bistro. The two lunches we had there were brilliant and very reasonable. The restaurant itself is very tasteful and restrained while being light, airy and comfortable.

I didn't like the breakfast much. You have to tell them the night before when you want to eat and what you want to have - the only choice, really, is how you want your eggs cooked. Two of the three breakfasts put on our table had eggs not how we requested. The coffee was not good. I can get by with eggs that didn't fulfill my request, but bad coffee - I hope the owners will do something about it. The staff, when they realized they had made mistakes on the eggs two days in a row, were completely apologetic and offered to make up new eggs. I will say that the chilaquiles had a phenomenal red sauce on them.
If you have laundry to be done, you're on your own. We took a bundle to around the corner and never found the laundry the hotel staff said was there.

Good breakfast, good location.
The first night we were given one of the horrible rooms on the main floor adjacent to the reception desk and the breakfast area. This room had no proper window and was more suited to be a janitors closet. The shower head was faulty and shot water sideways all over our toiletries. We asked for bottled water and had to pay twenty pesos. Night clerk was unfriendly. Complained the next morning and were moved to one of the upstairs rooms which are much nicer. Other guests said they had the same problem.

staff was OK. did not expect less
I think this hotel is way too overrated and too expensive for the quality.
- facilities like jacuzzi still closed
- breakfast is of a poor quality. during our stay in Mexico weโve been used to homemade breakfast including freshly squeezed juice, sometimes homemade bread and high quality meats. el peregrino serves you processed orange juice, fruits are not tasty, coffee tastes like socks juice and the eggs with chorizo that usually are amazing was tasteless. chips quโรฎles are made with industrial chips. so disappointed.
- rooms: our king room was downstairs with no window. they accommodated us to a larger room upstairs with windows this time but with 2 uncomfortable full beds. Iโm 6โ2 and I did not fit

Location was perfect for walking to the historic district and many of the sights. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and the ambiance was traditional Mexican decor in a restored hacienda that was very charming. We stayed for a week and it was the perfect home away from home for us.
The only improvement I would recommend was on the breakfast -- but these are not normal times and Covid restrictions and rules did not allow the hotel to do their normal routine, which would have been very nice. However, that said, they still provided a nice fruit plate, coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, and eggs fixed any style.

The outdoor area near our room.
Everything else. The outdoor space and the staff were nice. The rest of the facility was terrible. The weather was 100 degrees and the staff was instructed to turn off our a/c unit. We would come back to a tiny, broken down room to excessive heat.
They also wouldnโt hold our luggage for us (an overnight trip) when we left for a night in a different city. We were required to pay for the full night. This has never happened to us before.
This is the first time in traveling that we both agree. We will not return!

Fantastic location, close to all the fun in Merida but located in a quiet block. Easy street parking right in front. This hotel is great for people looking for a nice place to rest but so much to hang out since there is no pool or bar. Loved the colonial aesthetic. Staff was helpful. The 24 hour reception is a plus. Full simple breakfast with eggs, tostadas, frijoles, fruit, coffee & toast.

The location was the best feature of the hotel. It was nice to have breakfast options every day though the quality varied, sometimes very good and sometimes overly salty or greasy. Housekeeping was fine if inconsistent in thoroughness, and yes we tipped daily.
There was hot water in the shower for only 3 days out of 2 weeks, we were lucky if it was lukewarm.
Would only stay again for a lower price.
Part of the reason we chose the hotel at the price we paid was that both the hotel website and booking.com show that there was access to an off-site pool. I double checked this information during our stay. When we asked about this halfway through our 2-week stay, we were told this is no longer included and that the only option is a possible paid pass to another hotel pool. This was disappointing but we thought the website was just in the process of being updated. We had also seen others using the jacuzzi on the terrace one evening, so when there were fewer guests around, we were excited to have our chance to use it. When I asked about using it at approximately 8pm, I was told that it is only available to use from 10-6pm. This is very disappointing since no one told us this at check-in, and we were hoping to use it after the hottest part of the day, especially considering the surprise of not having pool access. Very confusing too as the other guests we saw were using it after dark. They also have a photo on their website of the full jacuzzi after dark next to a glass of wine... which is not possible given this stated rule!
We are rather disappointed by the combination of these circumstances and feel the website and booking.com should be immediately updated to include the lack of access to a pool, as well as the limited hours of the jacuzzi being shared with guests at check-in. Communication between the management and staff needs to be improved.

This is a lovely traditional Mexican hotel in the downtown area of Merida. It is on a quiet street and has a lovely courtyard. The rooms are simple and a bit tired, but very clean and comfortable. The staff are exceptionally helpful.
The only thing that would have been nice is if breakfast started a bit earlier as we didn't get a chance to try the breakfast before our excursions each day.

We didn't eat the breakfast
We brought our bags in and were told to go find parking. We had to carry our bags up to the 2nd floor. Our room felt and looked like a hostel. The people that worked there literally were just "manning" the desk. We stayed at a couple of other hotels so we had something to compare it to.

Near the center, close to park Santa Lucia. Lovely exterior.
Breakfast is good (not included in the room price).
I expected other conditions for the price. No hot water (I understand this is the case in all Merida), the bathroom is outdated and you can hear everything from the room.
ร lot of noise coming from the inner court in the morning (again, noise in hotels seems to be a problem in all Merida).

Great family hotel. Not luxurious, but with everything you could need: centrally located, rooms large and cool in the Merida heat, comfortable bed, good wifi, continental breakfast. Best of all, the service from everyone, from the front desk to the room attendants, was warm and friendly. Can't recommend it enough.
The TV was a little too small for the size of room we had (king size). Not a deal breaker by any means, but just a minor detail.

Location was good.
We were put in Room 11 and had the worst night ever as the noise and the vibrations from the water tank/pump right above was continuous and unrelenting throughout the night making it impossible to fall asleep. Even my partner who is much less sensitive to sound than I, and can pretty much sleep through loud noise was badly affected. I am shocked that the room like this is even made available for booking. When the staff was approached, the response was simply that "some guests are more sensitive, some less." which of course is true but the point of staying in a guesthouse is to be able to rest and sleep, not to tolerate something that is within the control of the guesthouse. I'm not talking about street noise or things that are beyond the control of the management but something that is a matter of common sense- to not knowingly put your paying guests in a room that is not fit for sleep and try to get away with it. We were moved to the ground floor room the next morning, which was not ideal but were there no other rooms available, I would have booked another place right away and I would suggest that fellow travellers think twice as there are many other options in the city. I rarely ever take the time to write reviews, but this has been such a bad experience I feel obliged to be truthful and hope that this helps others to make an informed choice.

Hotel's charming colonial architecture, excellent location, very friendly, helpful staff.
Lack of fresh air in the room. When we arrived and entered the room there was a very strong cleaning product/chemical smell in the room. There was no way to open any windows to air out the room except by leaving the room's door open which exposed us to the hotel lobby. Throughout our stay while we were (awake) in our room we had the door propped open with the ceiling fan running in order to not have a stuffy atmosphere. If only the transom windows above the rooms door were operable, that would solve the problem though we realize the impossibility of this changing. Maybe cleaning products without (strong) fragrance?

The rooms are very old and noisy. The swimming pool was not clean. The breakfast was very poor (only some fresh fruits, boiled eggs, bread and jam)

Wow, our experience here blew me away. First, at time of booking, there were only double beds available and so I just put in the comments that we preferred a king. When we got there, we had a king room! Secondly, I wanted to plan a surprise for my partner's birthday. I asked about having a mariachi band come and then the manager, Mario set the whole thing up for me and I didn't have to worry about it. When the band came, the owner had also bought a birthday cake for us to enjoy, which was a great surprise and very generous. The hotel itself was so cute and both the rooms and common spaces were very comfortable and clean. We walked regularly to coffee shops and the main plaza and even felt safe walking back at night. We hope to be back!

Good hotel when you are looking for a place to sleep and have a simple breakfast. Hotel was clean and has everything you need for a city visit. There is a safe in the room and shower gel and shampoo. Good shower. Parking on the street. Great location in city centre.

Good location
Noisy in the downstairs bedrooms by the lobby and cafeteria. People coming in from the outside after 10 pm did not keep their voices down. People often hung out in the cafeteria after 10 pm and woke us up a number of times. The staff should gently tell their guests that people are sleeping in the downstairs rooms and to not hang out in the cafeteria at night.

The Hotel was exceptionally clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient.
The breakfast was satisfactory, but only consisted of fruit, bread and hardboiled eggs, I would have liked
some cold cuts, but, that said it was fresh and tasty!
All was good

Location and breakfast
Staff did not seem knowledgeable of area or there own hotel.
Did not volunteer information of service by hotel, beer, wine, fridge use etc
Whats with the tiny pool, not same as big one in photo.
Also our room had no windows, very dark. Like a basement while in room .

We've stayed here a few times since 2017. The staff is always very helpful and the rooms are comfortable and meet our expectations. The location allows for short walks to our usual destinations and it's not too difficult to find parking near the hotel as well.

The hotel is very beautiful and perfectly located near historic center. Very hospitable and helpful staff. Good breakfast, comfortable bed. The hotel provided parking. Good internet.
Only the smaller than expected size of the room made us feel a little uncomfortable. Nothing else to wish.

Nice old fashioned boutique hotel. Itโs friendly and cozy. an old open-courtyard hotel, feeling like Iโm back in Europe or Thailand. Breakfast is served by personal orders and self serve side dish. Itโs central and convenient to the old town. Walking around to historic places and restaurants with in 15 minutes.
The half step floor in the two beds room. I almost tripled.

We needed a Centro hotel for our last night before flying back home. We greatly appreciated the location of triple rooms on the first floor so that no large bags had to be taken upstairs and did not expect the blackout windows-- a real plus as our room faced the street. The staff were helpful and provided a 2:00 AM wakeup. We did not get to enjoy the breakfast but appreciated the refrigerator where we could store items to get us on our way. We would stay there again.
Since the afternoon was very hot (typical of Merida), we decided to watch a movie. The teeny television placed high on the wall made it difficult.

Breakfast was included and was good. It's location is very good, you can walk to most places. They use a local laundry service that returns your clothes same day at a great price.
Facility needs an upgrade. The bathroom door lock broke, and we couldn't use it for over a day. They had us use a bathroom in an empty room down the hall. It's hairdryer didn't work. You would think they would comp us the 1 water and 1 beer on our tab, but no.

Breakfast was ok with assortment. We only had cereal and fruit but eggs were available prepared different ways.
The noise. We were next door to the kitchen/breakfast area. Avoid rooms on first floor. The odor of fragrance sprayed in our room. The zen type music playing too loud and too early in the morning until late evening.

Knowledgeable front desk staff, great location within easy walking distance from historic center, attractive building with lovely tile work, access to filtered water and coffee/tea making in shared kitchen with guest fridge, AC and ceiling fan, desk, small table & chairs and lock box in room. Appreciated good communication by email before arrival about canceled breakfast service.
Breakfast service was canceled because the seating was close to ground floor rooms and guests had complained about noise. We like to book hotels that offer breakfast so were disappointed. The $200 pesos refund for 2 people per night was clearly not enough to cover buying breakfast outside. The staff kindly suggested places to eat.

Each member of the Staff was always (literally) friendly and social, we always had a small conversation when returning after our long day trips. Equally important, they were always eager to help and listen.
Nothing too big, but I would check upon arrival that the bathroom mirror is well held in position. Our room had a mirror holding from a single screw in the bathroom door, so it would bounce when moving the door, and you would need to be careful when moving the door. I don't know if it's the same case in the other rooms.

We booked the king deluxe room, I just wish it was brighter as it had no outside windows. It was also not very soundproof.

Unpretentious humble cozy hotel that is a stone throw's away from the historical centre of Merida. The hotel staff is phenomenal with their service and attention - singling out Roberto and Fernando for their exceptional help and counsel with all things local. This is an excellent hotel option for solo or couples who travel light and who value service. There is even a 30% discount at the nearby breakfast cafe Tinoc if you are a guest at the hotel. Free parking in front of the hotel was another bonus.
I have nothing negative to add about my stay.

This is a charming small hotel. The staff are very courteous and friendly. I think most or all spoke English well. It's only two blocks from busy Calle 60 but that felt like it was far away,.. people here were mostly quiet, especially during quiet hours between 9pm-9am. The guest kitchen is nicely equipped (though at least a couple of guests didn't bother to wash their own dishes, opened my carton of milk and maybe even drank (?!) from it... I threw it out).
I loved my light and airy room upstairs! But I wonder about people I met who were getting a ground-floor room next to the street. The stairs up aren't wide and (as typical) have no handrails. The worst problem was that my door was almost impossible to close when the sun shone on it; I'm guessing the heat expanded it? Luckily, I felt very safe here; if my door had sprung open, I don't think there'd be a problem. (I heard at least one other guest slam their door. So I didn't bother reporting the problem; I'm sure it's known.)

This beautiful colonial house is a perfect getaway to relax and feel comfortable in. The beautiful music, ceramic floors in warm tones, and soft illumination contribute to a soothing and uplifting atmosphere.
Fernando and Roberto are a wealth of information and share it willingly and warmly with their guests. Their English is amazing! They contribute greatly to a welcoming environment.
It is within walkable distance to many museums and cultural events in the city.
