The bed just fit in the room, there was no room for other furniture. The window set up was pretty grim, overlooking a very busy road, and the bathroom was a shower hose over a toilet and sink. All in it did the job, but wasn't especially comfortable.

The only things good about this hotel were the friendly staff and its location, right next to Chinatown station.
I guess I got what I paid for. Given that Singapore hotel prices are extremely high, I had to book an affordable room, which made me land here. And looking back I really regret it, I could've paid more for my own comfort. When I stayed, the elevators were not working, so I had to drag my heavy luggage up and down a flight of stairs. In the middle of the night as I was asleep, the fire alarms went on so I woke up, panicked, thinking I had to evacuate. I had to go down and check what was happening and the staff said it was an alarm error. This happened 3 times so it was kind of traumatizing. The hotel itself was dingy and facilities were dated, kinda like giving that horror hotel vibe where people get spooked inside. The room smelled strongly of disinfectant, the bed was hard, and the sheets were uncomfortable. Absolute nightmare.

Location is close to MRT station, park, shops, and attraction. The behavior of the staffs are polite and helpful. The room and washroom are very clean and smells great. They provide 24-hour free baggage storage. They can assist calling you taxi. They provided us early check-in as the rooms were available. Check-in and check-out were quick.
The air condition is not fully on my control. The noise from next room can be heard. Not all room are of equal size even though the price are the same.

The price to space ratio was not good. I would value this at $65/night for Singapore in June-July as oppose to $100+ per night.

Hotel 81 is directly across the street from the MRT chinatown entrance. This hotel is about 10minutes from Maxwell Food Court. It is in the heart of China town. I enjoyed the location of Hotel 81. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a filter water dispenser the bathroom and a hot water Kettle in the room. There are windows in the Room but the windows can not be opened for fresh air. The linen was white and very clean and fresh.
The twin room that I booked was very very small , There was no room for 2 people plus luggage. I have never ever seen a bath room with a shower that is not separate from the toilet and the sink. The shower is on a wall in bathroom not separated from the sink and toilet. So when you take a shower , the water is running/ hitting the toilet sink and the wooden bathroom door. This is a very unusual set up for a bathroom. I made sure that I wiped down the wooden bathroom door until it was dry. The bathroom door paint is peeling from the water hitting it. The hotel is very old and the furniture in the room is very very old.

For the price, I think it is more on the value side as the location of the hotel is literally right next to the metro station, walking distance to two hawker center, malls and tourist spot.

I booked a Superior Room, but it was far from what I expected! The room was incredibly small, and my travel companion and I are of average size (Asian), yet there was barely enough space for two pieces of luggage (a medium-sized suitcase and a carry-on).
The room was so cramped that there was no space to even open the luggage and pack. To make matters worse, I tripped and seriously injured both of my knees, leaving them bruised and painful, and my back is also in bad shape. As I write this review, I’m still struggling to walk up the stairs due to the pain. The photos of the room on the website are misleading and do not reflect the actual size or condition of the space.

The room was cozy and compact, and the bed was comfortable, according to room size. Since the area is very compact... it was enough too
I could expect a bit of new amenities and a bit bigger room where we could move easily. On the other hand, this place has very limited areas, which is why they have limited size.
