The staff at this hotel are just exceptional in every way…. and the location is unparalleled anywhere. Lounges, bedrooms and the beds are all very comfortable and the little sitting out area in the bedroom overlooking the harbour is just magic. There is an overall very relaxing vibe at the hotel that greets you as you first sit down.
So why haven’t I given it 10? See below…
We have stayed here several times and as I say above, the staff are superb, the rooms and the location magic.
But the food is still not quite right . Our green vegetables were grey, old and tired and I poured some red wine on to my (faded) red cabbage to cheer it up. Of course they replaced the greens with sparkling crunchy ones when asked but they shouldn’t have been served in the first place…But then the chef produces a lovely ‘Happy Birthday ‘ surprise for my husband - and then it’s so hard to be annoyed and the staff are all so lovely.
But it is still the Reception staff that, in my view, don’t get it. There is a business like approach to them that grates and contrasts with everything else in the hotel. There was no ‘hi ,welcome, hope you’ve had a good journey’ - the first words were ‘your room is not ready yet’! I am obsessed with the need for a warm welcome at reception. It sets the tone for everything else. By definition any guest has come on a journey to get there- often stressful - and that needs to be acknowledged. Similarly when I left in a named storm with the sea and wind raging and embarking on a difficult homeward journey, I got the ubiquitous ‘ Have a nice day’… no real concern or interest in the guest. This really lets the whole enterprise down as far as I am concerned and makes me think twice about a return visit.

The location was very nice and the pub downstairs was really good.
They made us change the room in between our travel. They moved to us to a different room at extreme corner of the property which was available for much cheaper price on booking.com. They didn’t have the courtesy to call us after saying multiple times that they would to discuss options. Really disappointed.

Stayed in quite a few hotels over the years but never experienced service as good as we received at the Greenbank. Will definately recommend and stay again when visiting Cornwall.

My mum stayed here as a gift for her 70th birthday. She was absolutely delighted with the room. She said the room was large and the bed was really comfortable, and the view was beautiful. Great bathroom and shower facilities.
There was confusion about the breakfast that was included. She ordered a cappuccino and wasn't told that it wasn't included in the breakfast menu, and it cost her £12!

The Greenbank Hotel building has been added to over the centuries giving it a certain quaintness. The location is great, looking over Falmouth harbour and easy access to the town. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. I couldn’t fault them.
The outside could do with being painted especially on the seaward side.
