If you wanted to enjoy the pool and the beach, this is the best one. Its already by the beach. Unlike the other hotels- you will have to cross the street.

The bathroom is not clean enough especially the shower and the toilet . I have to clean it all over again.

The room was so dirty, I could not believe it plus smelled terrible and just wasn't the quality we expected. The property could be updated in most areas, better beds, pillows , carpets. The bed was terrible and very uncomfortable. Baby crib looked ancient, very small and uncomfortable. The door blind did not close all the way, the bedroom light and sitting room light weren't working. The pool is not family friendly for small children. They should stop trying to recruit every customer who checks in to join a timeshare sales presentation. Trying to bait you with free this or that!!! Then get upset if you don't want to do it. Wasted 30min of our time at check in.

We had a great view from our balcony--of the Gulf ocean--beautiful view. The hotel was in a great location with a beautiful beach. Unfortunately, our queen 1 bedroom suite was extremely disappointing--nothing like the photos advertised by Booking.com. Our unit lacked any decorating. It was our anniversary and my wife expected something that was really special. The photos you used to advertise this property were completely different from what we experienced. The unit was tired and in need of a major facelift. Quite disappointing that Holiday Inn Galveston Resort would let anyone stay in this unit. They said that since we booked through Booking.com, that there was nothing they could do. The sliding glass door out to our balcony could not even be opened by my wife. Fortunately I have strength and was able to open it with difficulty. All the appliances were very nice--nice kitchen with full frig, cook top stove and microwave/convection over -- with all the necessary dishes, pots and pans, and kitchen needs. It looked like they were in the process of re-modeling this unit, but they wouldn't admit it. We will probably not stay at this property again and we will be very leery of booking with Booling.com.

Read my explanation above. We expected a room/unit that was attractive. We were not staying in a Motel 6, and we were celebrating 44 years anniversary.

No cleaning wipes in the gym. The hard sell of the timeshare was a turnoff. And the extra resort charge of $10 per day was not mentioned at check in or upon booking. And Im not sure what this charge was for.

This hotel is a hidden gem in Galveston! I've been to Galveston many times in my life, but never knew this hotel existed! To find such a nice, clean, affordable hotel on the beach was wonderful. The pool was very nice and exactly as it was pictured on the website. Not only was there covered parking available, but it was free! I would also like to send a "great job!" comment about Ray, the manager on duty. When we arrived, there was a problem with our reservations. Ray overheard the conversation, stepped out of her office, asked a couple of questions, and had everything straightened out and resolved in a few minutes! She was VERY nice and helpful, and we really appreciated her excellent customer service!! Thank you, Ray! Everything about it exceeded our expectations and we really enjoyed our stay. We will be back!

It would be nice if there was a continental breakfast area available and/or the convenience store area have a little more variety. Also, there were several areas around the pool that were very slippery, and we noticed several people almost lose their balance when walking back from the gate by the shower and up the ramp from the beach. Maybe that area could be squeegeed or swept to make it safer? One last thing: the ceiling in the room I stayed in (5th floor-53B?) had dark, black dust hanging over the bed and around the ceiling fan that floated down when the fan was in use. I was able to reach up and clean off the fan, but it would nice if someone could take a look at the ceiling and remove the particles that are around the fan.

our room was on the street side and was rather noisy with the traffic zipping by. also, the shower soap box was empty! sealed, but, empty. never had that happen before!! might be good for housekeeping to shake the boxes to be sure there is soap inside. a small issue for sure, but, something to improve upon.

We requested a condo on an upper floor and our request was met. It was very comfortable and clean. We cooked our meals at our leisure, which reduced the cost of eating at restaurants. It was great to sit on the balcony in the morning with coffee or wine in the evening, while watching and hearing the waves. Walks on the beach in the mornings were peaceful. I would highly recommend this property!

I like to just the location

I arrived little early around 2 pm I requested early check in, the staff said they would let me know over the phone, so I waited on the beach right in front. They didn't hear anything until 4pm. I wasn't expecting much, but I was hoping to at least get in touch. At 4pm, I went to the front desk again and they just pointlessly checked me in again, like they had done two hours earlier. I was very disappointed that it was a 1st floor room and not a high floor room that I wanted when making an online reservation. Two hours ago, the staff asked me how many people there were, and I said two. I think they probably changed room during the two hours I was waiting. Because at 4 pm, when the staff wanted to check in again, what they said was, "Your room has been changed. If anyone goes here tell them the maximum number of people allowed for the room size you booked.. they are smart. I used to go to this place every year until 4 years ago, but when I went back a few years ago, I remember that they wasted a lot of time trying to give out room keys and sell tour packages, but they didn't impress the customers at all. I probably won't go here again

A fabulous location right on the beach. The two bedroom suite was great. It was nicely decorated, clean and had everything we needed. We loved having the kitchen, so we didn't have to eat out for every meal and the in suite laundry was an added bonus. The location is slightly outside of Galveston, which we really liked as it was a little quieter than in town, but still only a short drive away. The balcony was great, although could have used some nicer furniture. There was nothing like listening to the waves....sigh! The beach was nice and we enjoyed the pool and hot tub.

We HATED being pressured into going to a timeshare presentation. The woman not take no for an answer. In the end we didn't go, but they kept calling us, which we ignored. The suite could use a little updating, but overall was lovely.

Loved the view. The layout was nice. Front desk and maintenance staff were friendly. Liked the room keys and access to beach. It was quiet. It was close to perfect!

The tub was slick and had to put a towel down to prevent sleps. The ac worked great the first night but not so great the two other nights.

Location & affordability

Constant dripping noise coming from fan in bathroom. Noise from neighbors when they ran their whirlpool tub, loud and made it hard to hear TV in our living room. One night it went on for over 3 hours. The couch in our living room was uncomfortable, springs in middle broken. Upon check in, when we were getting our room keys ready, we were presented with an opportunity to learn more about area and receive free gift cards to use towards attractions & restaurants, all we had to do was attend a 90 minute presentation to learn about, it turned out to last over two hours and was a hard sell on buying into their timeshare club, was not expecting this, was expecting to learn about attractions & restaurants. We did get what was promised regarding gift cards to use, but wasnt clearly informed of the intention of the timeshare presentation.

Nothing. What a dump!!!

In rural location with nothing around. No restaurant or bar facilities. Rooms are tiny and could not accommodate more than 2 people. Had to attend timeshare presentation for 2 hours. Property then double charged card for stay so having to fight for refund! NEVER STAY HERE!!!

The room was great, the view was the best, the access to the beach was fantastic and the kitchen was very convenient, the fact that we had silverware, dishes, microwave and all that was excellent.

We need more ice - Only one ice machine for the entire building is certainly not enough specially during holidays like the Memorial Day - One machine on each floor should work just fine. We use the barbecue area, that needs some shades, the picture on the site had umbrellas, so that needs to fixed ASAP - the barbecue grills need to be cleaned up as well, I have spent a lot of time cleaning them up
