The location is in a residential area but close to the main points of interests I wished to see and visit in Galveston. Car parking was on-street and at no cost. The happy hour that Kathy hosted was very pleasant. The home-cooked breakfast was excellent.
I was allocated room 5 on the third floor. The air conditioning in the room could not be set to a temperature I found comfortable, far too cold on my first night, far too hot on the second night and making sleep impossible from 2am onwards. The cause of this was raised with Kathy who apologised. The room has no window and therefore no fresh air, the bathroom had two small block glass windows that could not be opened. There was no hot water available in the shower for about 5 minutes after turning it on, again this fact was known to Kathy. I also found the mattress and pillows to be very sad and worn out. I discussed my experiences with the property owner who accepted my position and offered me the full refund of my reservation costs. This was equitable and acceptable to me. I strongly suggest the owner addresses the points I raised however.

The house was beautiful, and full of life. I loved the balcony outside of our room. The staff was helpful and super friendly. The mimosas were amazing and so was the break. They took us to the cruise terminal and we left our car parked with them while we were gone.
I just didn’t like that we originally scheduled to and from transportation for the cruise terminal.. and ended up only getting a ride to. We end up walking back to the house from the cruise terminal so we didn’t have to pay an outrageous fee for an Uber. It was inconvenient BUT understandable so we don’t blame the staff for this.

Our room, the Alfred Hitchcock room, was so spacious and beautiful with a private balcony overlooking the house Alfred Hitchcock used as inspiration for The Birds' house.... This is a beautiful B&B walking distance to restaurants and the Strand district. Very nice, gourmet breakfast with the best coffee service at your table. Awesome owner/ hosts... very helpful and accommodating! Loved the evening happy hour they hosted, intimate, and enjoyed talking with other guests. Beautiful claw foot tub in the private bathroom but not necessarily the easiest for my husband and I to get in and out of, but we managed, and it didn't hamper our 35th Anniversary trip!

Unique hotel and bed was extremely comfortable. Staff gave exceptional service and they even helped us to our Uber with our luggage. My daughter and I stayed here the night before our cruise so we were only a few minutes from the port and would recommend this hotel to anyone in the same situation. Breakfast was exceptional! 10/10

The Mansion on 17th itself is absolutely beautiful but the customer service level is what makes the hotel shine. We travelled throughout Texas on a leisure trip from the UK and by far the Mansion was the best place we visited. The level of hospitality is second to none, the breakfast was great and the location is fantastic. We wished we had more days in Galveston but for the hotel alone we will definitely be coming back. Would highly recommend!

This Victorian house was wonderful! It was built at a time where craftsmanship was incredible. The floors are wood and has a design that took a lot of skill. Beautiful woodwork everywhere. The owner and staff make sure your needs are met. The room we had was the Sealy room. Very spacious. The bed was comfortable. We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. Many attractions were within walking distance. But with the horrible heat we didn't walk. Lots of stairs for those who need to know. Breakfast served every morning with wonderful French Press coffee.

The staff were very friendly and hospitable. The owner was approachable and receptive to my concerns and was interested in my experience while at the property. The personal touches were a nice gesture. The rooms were nice, comfortable and antique. I appreciated the owners communicative approach and his willingness to accommodate my stay. It is a lovely place and I will return to the property in the future.
My television did not work and even though I was on vacay it would have been nice to have an operable streaming system. A little too many insects present given the hot weather however, it is expected. Nonetheless, the owner assured me that the protocols are taken regularly and compensated me for my inconvenience.

I didn't like our room. We were in room #4 which was not too much bigger than a closet. To get past the bed to go to the bathroom, we had to shimmy sideways down the wall under the TV. Let me add that we are average size to slim people. This was a huge disappointment considering we saw how large the other rooms were. This was the only one that was small. I was also expecting a bathtub, but instead, all be had was a stand-up shower. To let you know how small our room was, our stateroom on Carnival was bigger. :( If you stay here, don't get #4.

Aaron was delightful! Very accommodating and very helpful.
A shared balcony with 4 very inconsiderate neighbors sitting next to our bedroom window early morning conversing very loud for at least 1.5 hours. Woke both of us up. Could not go back to sleep after that.
