Very friendly staff, nice cafe with good food and decent prices, beautiful garden areas to relax, very clean facilities, walking distance to Downtown and other vivid areas. It is lovely that a simple breakfast is included - a bagel and a coffee, tea or juice. Moreover, they have a 24h laundry and nice activities/events.
The bed was a sleeper couch which was medium comfortable. The walls are super thin.

I liked everything. The staff. The location. It was really clean. The bathroom & shower. The little breakfast. Actually the day I left I realised the at least one of the owners was serving breakfast. That’s lovely. I would definitely go again if I go to Portland in the future.

The café had great selections of drink and food.

The rooms were clean, the locker is a decent size, lock, bedsheets and towels were provided at no extra cost. The breakfast is simple, as mentioned in the description, but great to start of the day. The coffee shop has extra options to add on if you need to. The bagels they offer are not vegan but they did have two options of toast for me. Kitchen was also clean. Fridge was organized with labels.
The Wi-Fi was not working in one of my nights there. Just as a suggestion, they could provide also a individual small towel (face towel) since there's no paper towel at the bathrooms.

Very spacious, clean, has a lot of free hostel social activities, warm and friendly vibe. Free breakfast (bagel) with a choice of drink— Smiths tea is so great I went to go buy a box at the store & so is the coffee! They also have oj. $5 parking per day if you have a car (free on Sundays and federal holidays). Ample kitchen space and food storage. Check out their event calendar online to help plan out your trip with discovering local events and such! I’ve met a lot of other women traveling from around the country/world in the dorms so that was cool :)
My only wish is that they had curtains but it isn’t too bad!

I loved the whole process of checking in. There are so many aspects that this hostel had for passing time and keeping yourself engaged. The staff were extremely helpful and reachable. If I ever go back to Portland I’m gonna stay there and will recommend it to all my friends.
I felt the washroom needed regular cleaning. Since it’s a hostel. The washrooms in the morning were not clean at all. Thanks to the sanitizer spray bottle I found in washroom, I could clean the toilet myself before I could use it.

The staff was very nice and accommodating. The checking in process was quick and easy. If I stay again it would be because of the great staff. The bathrooms and rooms were very clean. It was well taken care of considering many people filter in and out of there on daily basis.
I didn’t like the beds they were not very comfortable. I didn’t like that there were no separation curtains or something so that I could have a little privacy in my bed in a room with others. I know it’s a shared room but that would be nice while I am sleeping. I also didn’t like the possibility of my car being broken into and having to hide/ remove anything of value from my car.

The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable.
Upon arrival on Saturday morning, which ended up being an early check-in, because the room was open, I was showing in my room by my host.
Upon being shown the room, I noticed that it was exceptionally cold. I asked if there was a possibility of getting a heater of some variety either space heater or otherwise, to which the host said we don't heat our rooms. This straightforward answer indicated to me that there was no option for heating the rooms. I then noticed later in the afternoon that the room next to me, which was being cleaned, had a space heater in it. I am uncertain of whether this was a guest room, or a host room for the hostel. Either way, if you're going to have a space heater for one room, you need them for all of the rooms.
The coldness of the room was extended on further, win at about 4:30 in the morning I felt cold air being blown into the room. My only guess is that a potential blower unit in the room turned on, and was blowing cold air.
Also, I was awakened suddenly at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, by loud knocking coming from somewhere outside the building, followed by screams from what sounded like a client of the hostel. In his screams he indicated that he had contacted the emergency contact number, and that no one was answering, and that someone should let him in.
In my view, if this person was a client, the hostel is responsible for making sure that someone is always answering the emergency contact number. This individual should not have been left outside until what seemed like 5:30 in the morning, when the screaming and banging of the door stopped.
Likewise, if this individual was a transient/homeless individual, the person on the emergency contact for the hostel should have notified the Portland Police department, and had the person removed from the premise.
I'm quite certain I was not the only person who heard this for 2 hours, from 3:30 a.m. until around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.

I stayed in this hotel for 7 nights and at first night there was a noise in my room, which is not the hotels fault but fault of the visitors and after I informed reception next morning, they changed my room immediately and issue is easily resolved. Rest of the nights were very nice, without any noise. And at last night of my stay there was a free wine tasting event which was a nice surprise and at that event Liesel was very kind and professional and it was really a big pleasure to talk with her.

I love this hostel. It has a home-feel about it, and the buildings and rooms have so much character. The staff are very accommodating and I love that breakfast is provided. My favourite room would have to be the common space right by the cafe. The location is pretty good as well, it is in a safe area, with restaurants and cafes nearby & is a 20 min walk from the heart of the city.
The walls are thin so if your room is right by a hallway/ entrance, it might be noisy. Beds in dorm rooms have no curtains.

This place made my trip for me. The location was gorgeous and historic, they have super cheap breakfast and amazing food (vegan and otherwise) and luxurious coffee for purchase at their cafe, and I made a lot of friends! They also consistently have local artists come in to hold events so there's never a lack of things to do. They have a complete kitchen and fridge, laundry room, and lots of fire pits and alcoves in which to sit and convene. I would have stayed longer if I could.
Loose sheets, light shower pressure, laundry machine needs quarters- nothing deal breaking but worth being prepared for. Our bunk beds were situated directly over the heater vent so check your bed before you select it upon arriving.

I love the good vibes of this motel. Even if portland isn’t fun that much , if u feel this way. I would definitely say this hostel is way much more fun. I really liked almost everything about my stay, the cafe , the kitchen which allowed me to cook aa meal for myself because portland has many options but u cannot find anything in the night( routine chicken fry, burger or most common food around the hostel ) , the hall, staff. They upgraded me for free and i really appreciate that. But i only had 1 thing which was really uncomfortable. They respected my instructions and gave me bottom bunk in the dormitory. But the bed was kind of really uncomfortable. It was too soft, after my first night i think i strained my muscles. It gave me hard time the whole trip.

Really nice location, I often stay in hostels when I travel. This was the best one I've stayed by far.
The showers lol. Bathrooms were nice, but an overcomplicated procedure with the bathtub faucets and shower head. Never seen a setup like it. Not that buga deal, but was straight baffled for 15 minutes
