Clean room, comfy bed.
The view isn't particularly appealing. And the doors and walls don't isolate noise that well.

Really appreciate finding a trendy hotel that doesn't break the bank and is also pet friendly!
Every evening between 5pm-6pm they offer a complimentary cocktail called The Ritual (it's a rotating cocktail, we had a Lemon Whisky the evening we stayed), it was a nice touch to start the evening.
The room was modern, clean, and had all the typical amenities you would think of. Bed was very comfortable.
Staff - Most interactions with the staff left a little to a lot, to be desired... At check-in, the gentleman was very friendly, but he missed a decent amount of information that we then had to find on our own. At check-out the woman working did not acknowledge the 10+ people waiting, to simply advise dropping keys was fine... I wasn't sure because we had a pet, if I needed to go through any other process with checkout.
Parking - $30 for overnight covered (not heated) parking is ridiculous when there are several lots around the hotel that offer weekend rates much cheaper.
Room - The bathroom door in our room was a pocket door that did not close completely or have the ability to lock in any way. There was also no fan in the bathroom.

The yummy prosseco and chocolates in our room upon arrival
The use of robes and slippers.
I was a bit upset to see the wine tasting and snacks not be apart of our stay as well as a stocked fridge and snacks. That was a great convenience for us.
And having to pay for breakfast as well.
We've been staying at The Matrix since 2015 so all of this was a surprise. While things there were good I'm not sure if we'll return, those little extras is what made The Matrix hotel unique and what attracted us to it.

The place was clean and quiet.
Its location (from the perspective of a leisure traveller). Also, the front corner and front door could use some TLC; it would make the hotel so much classier.

The front reception were very friendly and we were checked in quickly. The lobby is very attractive with the fireplace and furnishings.
The king bed was comfortable. The television was easy to operate.
I use to love the Matrix and it was always my favourite place to go to for work. However, the furniture and room is now worn down. The towels are old and thin. Although the mattress was comfortable it too is in need of a new one.
Breakfast use to be included and now it is 18.00.

This is my 55th stay at Matrix. I frequently come here in the last two years and it's my go to place in Edmonton. Last summer I stayed for almost a whole month and Matrix never fails my expectation. They sure know how to keep a customer. This time around I flew in very late, around 3 am and the staff accommodated me like a Queen. Young gentleman that works night shift at the front desk remembered me and gave me a decent upgrade as a loyalty customer. Stays in Edmonton don't get better then this. Location is fantastic, close to all decent restaurants and night life and this hotel has nice, clean and spacious rooms for conferences and meetings during which I always had an amazing experience.
I love Matrix for facilities and cleanliness but the food... They need to work on their menu. Restaurant staff made one too many mistakes with our order which resulted in the meeting lasting over 2,5 hours. I am not too keen on their menu, lots of Indian food but not a lot of alternative choices. Breakfast is okay, pretty steady with bacon, potatoes and eggs.

Pleasent staff, nice rooms, quiet. Nice to have a Starbucks next door.
They were going to charge me $90 for three night parking. It did not say anything about that on Booking.com.

check in was great. parking needs to be free all the time. bed was comfortable. Breakfast was nothing to brag about but it was standard breakfast like I'd expect a free buffet breakfast to be.
parking was complimentary this time due to a previous stay on my partners side but would normally be charged. i think parking should be free.

The bathtub was deep enough to actually take a bath.
Decent selection of tv channels with Rogers, and good wifi.
Staff was nice and quick at check-in .
Elevators are very slow and always very crowded. The doors of the hotel rooms are loud (slams), and can hear everyone doors closing in the hallway. The air filter force of the ventilation system may need to be replaced, the air was extremely dry and dusty. The TV could use an upgrade, the image quality is not great. Price per night is slightly too high for what this hotel can provides in my opinion.

i like that the location is nearby to the office wherein i had meetings at the time
the room is okay, service is standard good. there are lots of homeless around the area though, in which kind of made me anxious.
Lastly, what made me anxious as well is that I received an email a day after i checked out (april 29) from jcato@53northcollection.com asking me to "Please use the below link to securely complete your credit card authorization form.
https://www.canarytechnologies.com/authorization/property/BHLFQB9PAH". I emailed back, i emailed this concern to the hotel, and even message the hotel via booking.com but NO ONE get back to me to confirm that the email was sent by mistake. Was the email I received, phishing or scam email? i don't know.
It made me so stressed and anxious., which is not a good feelings.
