The room was immaculate and the bed was very comfy. The owner was extremely kind and helpful and even helped me carry my suitcases up the stairs.
I know Montreal and am familiar with the area around the bus station. Some might find it a bit "rough" but it's very convenient for public transport and nothing to worry about if you're used to the big city.

It was spotlessly clean AND quiet. There was a mini fridge in the room. Clean towels. No unnecessary messing around and fussing. A sweet and helpful person on site.
The entrance way smells like pee. But don't worry, inside, the rooms are pristine and smell wonderful. I'm mobile but it wouldn't be accessible for mobility impaired.

The location of this hotel is 1 block away from the metro station and this was very convenient for me.
Also, the front desk person was there when I checked in and when I checked out so this was convenient as well (I have experienced quite a few hotels where I am waiting several minutes before someone arrives).
She was also very accommodating when I had requests.
The room was ok but the street that the hotel is on has a lot of graffiti and there was no elevator to take my luggage upstairs.

The location was really close to the old port area, and the check in process was really easy. Very convenient to the bus station, which was fantastic for us.
The area around the hotel felt a little rougher than expected but okay. Quite a lot of noise and traffic sounds at night.

It is a 1 star hotel so curb your expectations. But, the room was clean, the bed is ok, clean bathroom, the necessities are there. It is good value for money. 5 minutes walk to Berri-UQAM, and the IGA grocery store!

Very central - so you can walk to lots of downtown sights and events in half an hour or less. Friendly reception staff. Clean apart from horrible fridge seal, stained curtains and dirty windows. Clean comfy good-sized bed.
There was hot water in the hand basin but none for a hot shower. The fridge and curtains were offputtingly dirty. This is a very basic hotel with cheap, non-matching furniture and decoration. There is no kettle or cups etc in the room (although there is a microwave in the tiny reception area). It was a private room with a private bathroom but it had more the feel of a hostel. I think mainly because of an event in Montreal that weekend, the prices of accommodation were sky-high - several hundred pounds per night and really not worth that kind of money.

So, going in my expectations were very low I have to say, as it is advertised as a 1 star hotel.
As you come through the main entrance, it is not very promising either, and it has 3 floors with no elevators, however, the room was substantially better than I would have expected, there was nothing wrong with it, it was clean, the staff was exceptionally friendly. It totally exceeded my expectations and I would gladly go back!
Just be aware, no elevator (it physically wouldn't fit anywhere...)

The Victor is a cool little no-frills hotel carved out of a block of Montreal row houses. The hotel is affordable, clean, and comfortable. The rooms are smaller, so you might not want to bring a lot of extra luggage, but each room has a flat-screen TV mounted on the wall and a desk to work at. The showers were nice and had good water pressure. The week I was there the weather was quite hot, but luckily the hotel has air-conditioned rooms. The hotel is in a great location, just a block away from the major Berri-UQAM Metro station, a mall, a park, a grocery store, hip dining spots, and is also across the street from a major bus terminal (where you will find the 747 shuttle bus to the Trudeau Airport and a taxi stand). The staff was also really nice and we were all able to communicate in broken French and English without any issues.

They kept our luggage for us as we arrived early.
The sheets and towels were clean.
We paid an insane amount for a room with double bed that was not a good mattress at all, on a shaky frame, with no breakfast. We slept the first night because overly tired by a red-eye flight that morning, but otherwise barely slept. Everything in the room is cheap, mostly clean but runs on the cheapest possible everything, pillow, mattress, bed, tv, furnitures, toilet paper, etc.

The area is sketchy. The front entrance and the carpeting leading upstairs is worn and dirty.
The staff are very accommodating and try to help. Our tv not working but they were very quick to come and set it up.
The entrance definitely needs an update and the carpet to stairs has to be changed. It is worn and dirty.
Some of the smells of cooking food and fish are very strong and greet you when you enter.

The hotel is a great choice if you have a limited budget and will spend a weekend or a few days in Montreal. The lady from the reception desk kept our luggage after the check out, since our train was scheduled to later that day. Although it's common, we always appreciate that.
Every day they cleaned the room and changed towels. The bed is good although a little noisy. The shower is great!
I guess the best part is the location. The hotel is around 7 minutes walking from Berri station (which is one of the main stations in Montreal bc you can take the subways lines orange, green and yellow). Also there's some restaurants and convenience stores around.
In my opinion is a great value for money to stay in a city where the hotels are not that cheap.
The bed is a little noisy, but nothing that would take our sleep away.

Extremely nice and welcoming staff, they make you feel at home and comfortable right away. Just very nice people in general.
I was surprised when I entered the room because it didn’t match the rest of the building at all, it was much more modern and cosy looking. The bed was really comfortable, had some of the best sleeps I’ve had in ages while staying here. Room has decent facilities such as a tv, fridge and a table for eating at. Good modern looking bathroom.
Location itself it’s great but it is only a 5 minute walk from the berri uqam metro station.
Room wasn’t as clean as I would have hoped when I arrived. Floor was a bit dusty and there was a frozen meal left in the freezer from previous guests which had a nasty smell.
The location isn’t great, I never felt in danger or anything but if you’re a solo traveller you may not feel comfortable walking at night especially if you’re female. Despite that, during the day you’ll be absolutely fine and even during the night there’s usually quite a lot of people around.
The room was pretty warm, and having the window open at night is a bit of an issue as there’s lots of noise from the road. It wasn’t so bad during the time of year I stayed but may get very hot during summer.
Tv was very strange to use and the quality was really bad, not sure if I was just using it wrong though.
The check in desk area / hallways are really dated so when initially entering you hotel you have a bad first impression and expect the rooms to be equally as bad.

The location is good, right around the block from the bus stop. Close to everything downtown, Gay Village etc.
It was nasty. Nasty entrance. Nasty smell. ROACHES. I took a picture of a roach and they gave me a refund. I promised not to tell (to get my refund!!!!!). But people should know. You do NOT want to take these home with you. I left in an hour. If I had not prepaid I would have turned around as soon as I walked in. It was the sort of place you know you will see a mouse or something. The room was much better than the hallway or reception area. But when I returned just one hour after dinner. Two roaches and I knew I had to get out immediately or I would take them with me home. Still worried I might have. So nasty. Without that picture, they would not have given me a refund. They ended up being nice, because I had been so nice about it. $70 bucks for a roach infested motel.

Its closeness to the Old Port and other attractions might make it practical for those who want to maximize their time in the city.
In short, if you're all about location and just need a spot to crash while exploring Montreal, hotel victor could work for you. But be aware, the place is pretty old with narrow stairs, a sink that got clogged in the bathroom, a seriously firm mattress, a tiny TV that didn't work during my stay.

Bed was comfortable, shower was good, hotel manager was very nice, wifi worked well. Price was good. Hotel is located near a major metro station and parking garages. Restaurants are not too far away.
There is no closet in the room, and wash cloths were not provided. There is no elevator, and I was on the fourth floor, but that was not a problem for me. (I knew that there was no elevator when I booked.) Use caution if parking your car on the street. My car was broken into, and I had to have a window replaced. Nothing was stolen-- I'm not sure why it was broken into.
