Hotel in general was good. Nicely decorated and maintained in the public areas. Excellent location in the town.
Being shouted at as I queried that we were not allocated the room we had reserved. Apparently, they are not Booking.com. No interest at all. Made for an uncomfortable stay. Room was basic and tired. Carpet stained.

The staff/ man who greeted us/ did breakfast and everything else was amazing, so helpful and friendly and made us so welcome. Offered us croissants to take away with us for our journey. Kept our cases for us while we looked around. Loved the location and loved la Rochelle. Perfect for a one night stop off.

Perfect laid back backstreet hotel in La Rochelle. Massive windows for ventilation (it was hot). Great acces to the old port for bars and restaurants. Restaurant recomnendation from check in guy was stunningly good!
Breakfast felt a little lacking for the price. No serious complaints tho

Great location beside Place Verdun for buses and taxis and very close to the market. The historic port also in walking distance. Rooms had shutters which blocked the light well. Also very quiet at night.
Rooms, a double and a single were very small. Double room had small bedside stand which got in the way of opening the wardrobe. Little table and 2 chairs at window. Room had musty/dusty smell.. Might be better to get rid of the carpet.

The location is absolutely perfect, set in the middle of the old quarter. 15 mins walk from the station. 1 minute walk to the splendid covered market. 5 mins to the lovely port. Great cafes, restaurants, shops everywhere. Nice big rooms, mine had a balcony onto a lovely courtyard. Nice communal areas for relaxing. The staff were delightful.
Old-fashioned, retro-styled hotel, donβt expect mod cons. This might put some off but I liked it.

I booked a large room with two double beds. Booking was confirmed. When we arrived the room was already occupied and not available. We were given a small double room that was made into a twin by separating the double into two. I didn't get what I had booked.

Breakfast was not nice, not fresh and presentation needs improvement.it was as expensive as a four star hotel. They should visit Ibis historique nearby and they will show them how to present a fresh breakfast.dust on top of wardrobe .also the main area could present itself better if they had burning inscence or a fresh perfumed scent.

I had a lovely clean room at the very top of the building, overlooking the street at the front and a museum opposite. The building itself is gorgeous with a grand staircase leading up from the hall. The man on Reception was so friendly and helpful and recommended a lovely area for restaurants in the evening. Great to be so close to the centre of town.
There was no electrical socket next to the bed and the one next to the window would not accommodate my UK adapter, so I had to charge my phone in the bathroom!

In the centre of town. Easy access.
Pigeon poo on exterior window ledges. Outside area needed good clean. Not pleasant to open the windows. Ramp up to the bathroom area. Chambermaid didn't replace the cardboard cups every day. We had to ask each day. A kettle with tea/coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice.

The Lady who greeted us was charming and so helpful, allowed us to put my husbandβs medication in the fridge and then even better allowed us to have hot water to make English Tea!!! I would say there was nothing that we could have asked for, charming, polite and accessible. The parking was a little awkward, but only cost us 15 euros for the night and was underground so the car was safe. The hotel is perfectly situated to have a good look around La Rochelle and a wonderful meal was had at the harbour with lovely views and not too expensive, again highly recommended by our lovely lady (sorry I did not get her name!). We all decided if we could come back we will for further investigation of La Rochelle.
If I have to make a criticism it would be that the tap in our bathroom was very loose, the shower head would not stay in position and the toilet seat cover came off and perhaps a little bit of painting of the balcony would not be such a bad idea, but the hotel situation was wonderful.

What a lovely little hotel!
The hosts were all really friendly and helpful - welcoming us with a coffee on arrival, happy to tell us about the local area and look after our luggage for the day on departure. Our room was petite and cosy and had a view on to the guest courtyard.
There wasnβt anything we didnβt like!
However, being English and enjoying a regular cuppa, I would have liked access to tea/coffee making facilities as there was a nice communal seating area/courtyard and it would have been lovely to relax with a cup of tea.

The location was perfect and the room was spacious. The common areas were nice to hang out and the staff was very friendly and polite.
We slept on the sofa bed and it was quite uncomfortable. I woke up feeling sore. And the bedsheets had a "storage" smell which I don't know whether it was coming from being tucked in the sofa or from being stored for a long time and then used.
