Lovely greeting from receptionist on arrival. We were able to check in 30 minutes early which was good. Nice decor throughout. Room 409 was spacious, clean and comfortable. Bath was a bonus. Overlooking the square and the opera house. 10 minute walk from both Lille Flandres and Europe train stations. Very convenient. Close to shops, bars and restaurants.

The location is very good and just in city center close to all the attractions. I stayed in privilege room which was big and had a city main square view. It does not have any other advantage such as free mini bar or free breakfast which I already experienced in other hotels, so I don’t recommend privilege type. The room and the bathroom were clean and quiet. The toilet was separate. The room had dark carpet and dark brown walls so the lighting was not sufficient and personaly, I did not like the atmosphere. Bed was very comfy and clean. The wifi was very good. Staff very helpful and always available.

This hotel is well located and the breakfast is ok.
Panoramic bar.
It is a Carlton hotel, so you expect excellent experience. This one is quite oldish and in the rooms appliances need some replacements. There is only one elevator (quite small) and from time to time is out of service. Inside this hotel there is no restaurant, but there are plenty outside.
The young staff are not according to Carlton staff; I asked to have 2 keys and when they activate one, the other one did not work. This process was repeat next day, so I gave up. Reserved parking is not on hotel location, but is manageable.

This hotel has a prime location with spacious rooms, and a great breakfast. They had a variety of cakes and fruits for breakfast that was nice.
The cosy darker atmosphere at breakfast was unsettling at first. I didn't enjoy the Nespresso machine and was expecting a bit more on that front, but the quality of rest of the breakfast was too notch.

Quite steep sides to the bath, so as the shower is over the bath this might be difficult for some people - worth making a request when booking. Staff at reception very welcoming and helpful. We are a group of six old college friends who meet every year for a reunion so we like to choose accommodation that provides the right level of comfort and value for money and The Carlton certainly did not disappoint.
The location could not have been better, the staff were so helpful and the rooms were really spacious with comfortable beds.
Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice to suit all tastes.
The ‘we love view’ cocktail bar was the perfect rendezvous for pre dinner drinks and the cocktails were superb!
We only had one small complaint that being our room had an over the bath shower and we found it quite difficult to select the shower type and indeed switch the water off as the tap which regulated this was so stiff.

All the hotel especially the reception was very dark and could do with better lighting. Also the bath towels are very small more for a child than an adult. When we booked we did ask for one of the rooms for two single beds but on arrival was told booking.com did not let them know. They also said that there was nothing they could do which I found very unprofessional as four star hotel it seems that they couldn’t be bothered. So overall didn’t make a good start to our holiday. Would I stay there again I’m not sure. I would like the hotel reply to me and explain.

As you read my review, remember this hotel is advertised as a 4 star (out of 5, not out of 20)…
1.The hotels policy check-in is noted as 4pm. However, I received an email from Booking.com that the check-in was 2pm.
When we requested early check-in, the hotel declined. We assumed this was the room was still being cleaned, however, once again we were surprised to find out the room had been ready for several hours. It was merely the hotel/staff not allowing us in the room due to check-in "policy".
2.We pre-booked secure hotel parking. The hotel/booking.com advertise this as "on-site". Actually, the parking is a 7 min walk in a different building, and we were charged the same 30euro per day for parking, even though it was off-site.
3.Due to the issues with check-in times, the hotel stored our suitcases. Once we entered the room, we couldn’t find our baggage. It appeared to still be downstairs, when we requested it be brought up to the room reception said “NO”. We provide you with a case trolley and you take your cases yourself.
4.We requested a child's bed in the room. This was at 6.45pm. Reception said "NO", housekeeping has gone home.
5.The room toilet was blocked upon our arrival. We requested this be fixed whilst we were at dinner. Reception said "NO", maintenance have gone home. The toilet was finally fixed the same day, but not cleaned, so the left-overs of the last users dinner was still in the pan!
6.Breakfast is served in the hotels nightclub area. Black walls, black glass ceilings that has been lowered, velvet seating. You get the idea…. Oh, and because you are in the nightclub, with your family, having breakfast, you are using a glass from the bar, that is next to the pint glasses and shot glasses. Nice…
7.When the child’s bed did arrive, it was a frame and a mattress. No bed cover, not pillow, no bedsheets. A bear frame & foam pad.

The bathrooms were extremely small very very small and not safe the shower didnt work properly and the toilet space was too small you can easily hit your head when standing .rooms are dark not bright lights, and service and breakfast was not good at all, We came for the name of Carlton and it does not meet any expectation of a carlton hotel, it feels like a 3 star than a 4.

Location was amazing near to everything

Hotel is old and you can feel it when you walk on the floor when you get out of the elevator and beds are not comfortable pillows also not comfortable and it’s too bad because we booked a privilege room and it should be more comfortable , so doesn’t worth the money , the real Carlton skipped this one

Location is excellent, close to the train station.
Because locates in the high street, unusual noise at night.
They forgot to put the stuff for my dog!
Such as dog bed, bowl and blanket. It costs €20 for nothing.
There is no changing room in the sauna/gym.

Great location and atmospheric with a view to enjoy over the town square
One of the reception staff was so rude and unhelpful we would have to wait for him to be absent before approaching the desk. Some of the other staff were lovely and helpful
