Hotel was very easy to find and in a fantastic location. Very close to both stations and in pedestrian area 5 mins walk from old Lille. Staff were attentive, friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Nothing was too much effort for them. Room was small but lovely with great bathroom, comfy clean bed and welcome info and water, plus info re tv usage AND re mosquitos with net curtain and plug in deterrent. Hotel itself was charming, with a 1920s old cage lift and just lovely touches everywhere. Location was amazing! Opposite beautiful St Maurice church and minutes stroll from everything. Staff were available on reception 24/7 and were very helpful when asked for info . Would 100% visit again and recommend to friends and family. Well done Hotel Brueghel.

We had a quirky corner room so it was a bit on the small size but cosy is good as we were only there for sleeping. The hotel itself is very hospitable, particularly the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. The hotel is very centrally situated but off the main squares so not noisy, even through we had a view of the gothic church opposite (no annoying bells that I can remember!) . It is different in its décor and old fashioned lift. And good breakfast. This is not a corporate hotel but a hotel with personality that is warm and 'family style'.
Our room was small and bathroom was a squeeze but was spotless, and we saw that the other rooms on our floor were bigger so check your room size.

I stayed for one night. The only thing I did not like is that the walls between the rooms are very thin with no sound insulation. This is an old, historic building, probably that's why. I heard everything the guests talked about and did in the room next door. Unfortunately, they came back to their room at around 1am and had a phone conversation with a third person on speaked for about an hour. Between 23:00-24:00 people moved out from the room above me, I heard them packing and moving things. I barely slept that night. Other reviews mentioned this problem as well, I should have read them more carefully beforehand.

Slight setback as the hotel does not have parking. There are several parking areas around the area. Look on maps. Not too expensive for overnight parking. Indigo seem to dominate the parking, not a very high standard as far as reaching your car. Needs a complete update/returb but this does not have a negative on the hotel.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was more varied than we expected, was served for several hours and was good value. We had booked twin rooms which have bathtubs not showers, but two of the three had fixed showers over the bath per our request. we were also able to request kettles for in-room drinks. Location was excellent - 10 mins from the station and from the old city. Beds were comfortable and we could open the windows which we like. We had views over the church opposite. The bathrooms were snug, but in an older building in an old city thats not surprising. We really enjoyed our stay and the value-for-money was appreciated.
It would be better if all twin rooms have fixed showers over the bathtub but it didn't really matter. Doubles and singles do have walk in showers, but we needed the twins. It was occasionally noisy in the evening, but we chose to open our windows and we were in the middle of a major city so what we would expect. With the windows and shutters closed it was fine. Really nothing I would criticise and I'd go back.

Room we stayed in (503) has a really bad positioned toilet.... away from the wall by about 20cm... which leave just about 20 cm in front of the loo. The plumber was obviously not bothered to reroute the plumbing !... If you are of a big stature then you will have some problems to use that loo .

Wanted a bit more room and would have liked a kettle (but staff supplied one on request with the most delicious Earl Grey tea I have had for a long time) and two glasses, but if we stay again we’ll probably know to book a different level of room.
