I really enjoyed staying at Verdi Plaza during my short stay in Bologna this May. The host, Dan, went way and above my expectations in making sure that everything went smoothly with the check-in (even when my train was delayed and couldn’t make it in time for his normal service hours) and other practical matters, such as reserving a cab for my departure to the train station the next day and just generally excellent customer-service. The double bed I slept on was really comfortable and the room had lockers big enough for my luggage, which was a nice plus! Would definitely come again whenever I’ll visit Bologna the next time

The hostel exceeded my expectations. Even though I booked it at the last minute the host, Dan, was very nice, communicative, responsive and helpful. Although I booked a bed in a mixed room he said that whenever he can he puts girls and guys separately so everyone feels as comfortable as possible. The room and the bathrooms were clean and we were provided with all the necessities such as towels, shampoo, body wash or extra pillows. Each person also has their personal cupboard with a lock, so you don’t have to worry about your belongings. There are also things such as coffee, tea and breakfast food. The hostel is right in the city center, within walkable distance from all the main attractions and the university. It’s a great value for money and I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable and comfortable place in Bologna!

Verdi Plaza has the perfect location and Dan is one of the best hosts I’ve ever had. He’s always worried if you are comfortable and if there’s anything he can do for you.
the room is cozy and the bathrooms super clean and there is shower gel and shampoo you can use.
The apartment is not that big therefore the kitchen is not big at all, you struggle to get hot water for your coffee or tea on a short space, But traveling solo for a long time I easily adjust.

The hostel owner Dan is super super friendly and hospitable and is willing to try his best to meet all your needs. I also made friends with the girls living in the same room, they are also very outgoing. Really a highly-recommended property, and by the way the location is also marvelous, you can nearly go everywhere on foot and there are some lovely restaurants nearby.

It has an amazing university campus 1.min away so the atmosphere is so much fun and yet you get your sleep ;)

It's a shared appartment, which gives student room vibes and helps in connecting with the fellow travellers. There was a small minimal problem during the second day and the landlord immediately came to take a look at it and find a solution. He continuously made sure we were feeling alright !
Furthermore, as a tall person, I was very happy with the longer and comfy beds.

The landlord was responsive and he provided me all details related to the apartment!
I arrived in advance and he agreed to do the check in 3 hours before. Then, he was very kind to offer beverages, foods and all his availability during the entire day and even late night.
The bedroom was clean and the large windows reduced at minimum level the noise from outside. There was air conditioning and it was very important because of hot weather. The bathrooms were cleaned every day and the entire apartment was fully equipped, including extra objects, things that usually you pay in hostels.

The hostel is in the city center and right next to the university, which was nice for me as I am a university student as well, and so I felt very comfortable as I was around people my age. It's also a quick walk to almost everything you'll want to do in Bologna, and about a 20 min walk to and from the train station, which connects directly with the airport. The owner is nice, the beds are nice, and the bathrooms are very clean, which is great for hostels. Very close to the nightlife in Bologna as well, if that is of interest to you. If you are social enough, you can definitely learn about the raves that go on in Bologna. Just speaking English and knowing some Italian phrases will be enough for a short stay (< 1 week).
My stay was very expensive, but I booked it incredibly last minute for the F1 grand prix in Imola, so I would expect it to be more reasonably priced outside of that. There are no real issues with the hostel itself, but rather its location. The area is not the greatest if you don't look/act like a local. One of the guys in the hostel told me about being offered drugs by someone in the street nearby (he looked aggressively British). I would encourage you to walk quickly and with a purpose when going around the area immediately surrounding the hostel at night, but you'll be fine otherwise. It wasn't an issue for me since I look like a local, but it was for my hostel mates who were my age.
