I always enjoy my time at the hotel. I usually stay here several times a year when I am visiting Guadalajara from a nearby town. The rooms are generally quiet and comfy, the restaurant is a good option if you want to dine on property. The location is quiet, yet located in the historic zone with many points of interest nearby. This is the quietest property that I have found in the area.
Sometimes it's a little difficult to flag down a taxi, but the desk will call one for you.

This hotel has more character than the usual upscale tourist hotels. It is the second oldest hotel in Guadalajara, but it has been obviously significantly moddernized, probably many times. Here and there some things could use some updates, but everything we used was fantastic. Our rooms were very comfortable and clean. The dining area is exceptionally gorgeous, warm, with attentive staff. it seems to be often used for area business meetings. The roof top terrace is terrific. The staff is both very professional and extremely helpful. We were there during an exceptionally difficult time, and the hotel and staff were wonderful. (We, and others, had our flight delayed and the entire city was under a two day plus shelter in place order from local officials and the American embassy.) We felt especially fortunate to be at Mendoza at this time. It is especially telling that the hotel took good care of its own staff as well as it's guests.

My husband and I used to stay here for a week, once a year for vacation. It was very classy and the food was marvelous. The rooms were comfortable. I liked the cleanliness of the room and the staff were wonderful.
I think the food could be better for the price. There are much better options for food surrounding the Mendoza. There was no chair in the room for someone to sit in. The lobby does not look as beautiful as in the past.

An attractive pleasant space to spend time in.
We specifically chose this hotel in order to use the pool. However the water was ice cold, clearly unheated. No one was able to swim in the spool, including other guests who we saw try to do so. The hot tub was not hot enough, and this resulted in a slippery feeling, likely due to buildup of algae. I saw maintenance workers treating this. But frankly, the heat of the water is the problem. This could actually be dangerous. The effect of the cold pool was that children and their toys used the hot tub daily, making it unsuitable for adults.

The location of the hotel is great. Very walkable to various restaurants and easy location for ubers/ taxis. Staff was always ready to help or answer any questions.
Supposedly was offered an upgrade to the original room that was booked which was 2 queen beds without view. The hotel messaged me offering a King size bed with view and terrance. Upon checking in at 10pm the bed was a very small queen bed instead.
The rooftop was recommended by several staff members, so we checked it out and the chair were very dirty and dusty. There is literally nothing to do on the rooftop since there is no bar or restaurant.

The hotel is located in a great area close to the cathedral, and other historic landmarks. The pool at the property is very nice and refreshing from the heat.
The room is a bit dated. Our room didn’t have what might be typical amenities like a small coffeemaker or refrigerator. The service at the restaurant was absolutely horrible. We sat for at least 20 minutes before someone came to take our order one evening and had gotten up to walk away before someone decided to help us. There are plenty of options in the area though so skip the restaurant.
