Great location, close to a lot of attractions. Room was a little small but very well designed and decor. Front desk staff were very friendly, pleasant and accommodating. Breakfast was actually very good and at a good price.

Room was a little small so no chair present to sit in.

Great location - close enough to the center of Times Square but not right in the thick of things, so it felt more private than the usual crowds of tourists. As is typical of Manhattan hotels, the room was small, but the high ceilings made it feel less cramped.

My request for an early check-in could have been handled better: I got an automated reply that I would be charged a fee or an additional night if I checked in early, then I was told it would be OK, which I had to clarify meant that a room might be available early but I would still get charged. Considering I was looking for shelter because I was trapped in the big winter storm, I think the management should have just waived those kinds of fees, which felt like I was still being nickel-and-dimed.

The staff was very kind and they held baggage before/after check out while you still walk around.

While we did not have the best experience, the hotel staff was willing to help make things right. In doing so, they made sure to increase their customer response time and ensure the highest quality of customer service coming out of this situation.

The hotel is well located.

The room is really noisy. The windows are thin and we could hear the A/C of the building in front of our room.

I was there to see a show, so the location was stellar. And, because it was January, the room was a decent price.

This may have just been my particular room, but the bathroom door consisted only of the external, metal frame. The entire middle part of the door wasn't there for some reason, so if you wanted to open the door, you could simply reach through, and turn the knob on the other side.

Location, literally on Times Square, close to everything

No window in the room and it wasn’t even mentioned in the booking process. Not super clean too. The shower temperature was random and went from hot to cold every minute.

My friend and I liked the possibility we were given to check-in a little earlier than 4pm (at 3:15pm) and the possibility to leave our luggage before checking in and after checking out. The complimentary drink (one per room per day) was also a nice perk. Both the ladies at the reception (afternoon shift on Sunday and morning shift on Tuesday) were very nice and accomodating.

The reception area doesn't feel safe. It is shared with the adjecent pub and on Monday night there was a group of people (probably Doordash/Grubhub riders) inside eating McDonalds and they didn't seem guests of the Hotel nor clients of the pub. We picked the location because we had a couple of events to attend nearby but I would not recommend to stay anywhere near Times Square. It is not safe. The room we were assigned to(209) was on the first floor directly above the pub so the room smelled like food (probably coming from the kitchen downstairs) and at times it felt like they were playing music in our room for how loud it was. The room featured a tilted window on the ceiling but we couldn't figure out how to open it and a frosted glass window probably looking directly into a brick wall (but this too couldn't be opened). The guy at the reception (morning shift on Sunday) wasn't very helpful. We are still waiting to get the deposit back even though the staff told us we would get it the day after check-out.

i liked the privacy and the cozy vibes it gave, also having a fridge in the room made it better. the AC was noisy but it worked REALLY well, having toiletries (shower gel, shampoo & conditioner) next to the shower was a convenient option.

the main picture creates a diff idea from what the hotel looks like, it is a tiny hotel with a tiny reception which is shared with a pub. there were PLENTY trash bags next to the tiny elevator and the AC was VERY loud. you gotta be careful with the hot water since it’s BOILINGGGG.

No bugs or anything. Close to Broadway shows.

No coffee. The lobby should offer it if there are no pots in your room. They give you ONE voucher for ONE coffee a day at the next door restaurant. Went down at 7 for a morning coffee and the restaurant doesn’t open until 8 am. Next day went down at 8 am and no one was there to open the restaurant. If you are a coffee person like me pack a travel one cupper. Trust me or you gotta go buy coffee somewhere everyday to wake up.

The entrance is confusing it feels like you are going into a bar the actual entrance is a corner it looks sketchy!!! The space of the hotel is very very small our window has no view of anything it was a brick wall so no sunlight.

I stayed at Hotel Shocard for a week and, after reading some previous reviews, I’ll admit I arrived feeling quite apprehensive. However, I can honestly say I had a completely positive experience and zero complaints. The room size was absolutely perfect for two people — especially by New York standards. It was comfortable, well laid out, and gave us enough space to properly settle in for the week without feeling cramped. Cleanliness was spot on: fresh linens, spotless bathroom, and no issues whatsoever with water, heating, or facilities during our stay. The staff were friendly and professional throughout. Check-in was smooth, and any small queries we had were handled quickly and politely. We experienced none of the issues mentioned in some older reviews — no flooding, no water problems, no alarms, and no housekeeping concerns. Everything felt well managed and organised. Location-wise, it’s fantastic — right in the heart of the city, making it easy to walk or hop on transport anywhere. For the price we paid, the value for money was genuinely excellent, especially in New York where hotel costs can be eye-watering. If you’re feeling nervous because of past reviews, don’t be. Our experience was comfortable, clean, and great value. I would absolutely stay here again.

The room was cozy and had such a chill vibe. The location was immaculate considering we were right off of times square main road with about a 7 minute walk to the heart of times square. Overall we will be coming back for our future trips!

The room is a little on the smaller side like most places in NYC but perfect for my sister and I for 2 nights. If you're staying longer you might want to look into something slightly larger. There was also no microwave.

The location can not be beat! Right in the heart of Times Square and right next to the subway it’s a 30 second walk.

The room view was of a corner of a brick wall. The room itself the carpet in the room was lifting and frayed badly and I mean badly. The outlet by the bed did not work and the solution was a surge protector. When they held my luggage at check in it was right by the front desk and the front desk person was gone when I came back so anybody could have walked in and grabbed the bag.

The location was absolutely top‑notch, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The place itself is awesome, with tons of great food options nearby, which made the whole experience even better. They also offered complimentary drinks, and having a locker room available was super convenient. It’s really a prime, popping location — I even saw a star next door at the auditorium!

The rooms are a bit small, so it might be difficult for two people to stay comfortably if they plan to spend a lot of time inside. This is really more of a place to sleep and then head out to enjoy the city.

The location was really, really good. Times square was close by and a subway station was across the street. The Irish pub below the hotel and the people working there were really fun and you get one free drink per day!

The first day I had no hot water but talking to the front desk fixed it for later that day. However, the main issue remains: The shower is a mystic entity that I do not completely understand. It has two controls neither of which did what I expected. The left one had cold hot painted onto it but it also started the water. The right one did completely turn free for me and felt like a placebo I could turn while waiting for hot water to arrive. I believe it was simply a waiting game but every day it took a different amount of running the water so maybe the right dial did do something in the end

It was a great location, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The room did look like the pictures

The staff talked on their phones the entire time during check in, and anytime you went to the front desk. There was hot water, scalding hot, burn your hands on the faucet hot. But the shower was tricky, it was very hard to get the water to turn hot, and at one point the steam caused the fire alarm to go off. It was difficult to adjust the water temperature on the shower.
