Everything was quite ok. Room (with private bathroom) was fine, with a comfortable bed, nothing was missing there.
Check-in/check-out was fine, you can leave there your luggages earlier or longer.
Kitchen was equiped well. There is also an option to use washing machine and dryer for 3-4 USD.
Overall if you need some place just for the night (not spend any time there) it's OK.
The hostel itself is quite noisy. We heard every word in our room. So if you need silence, it's not ok.
Kitchen/fridge would need much more cleaning.
Employees wasn't super friendly, but it was still ok.
Neighborhood was pretty much scary at some places - depend where you go.

Interesting place to explore in close proximity to the Hostel are Olympic Lake - Club, San Francisco Museum of Craft + Design, Grace Cathedral, Masonic Auditorium, InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco, Curran Theatre, James C. Flood Mansion, American Conservatory Theater, Smile A Gallery with Tongue in Chic, Geary Theatre and others.

It's incredibly noisy at all hours. There are people playing guitar and singing loudly at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning. No one intervenes. If you're obsessed with such things while sleeping, I wouldn't recommend it.

The front of the building, where the stairs are located, smelled like piss, but it could be common for SF? The front desk was not available to open the door when I wanted to check in. Another guest had to let me know on their way out. The baggage room was packed to the brim when we got there ~around noon. We had to put our bags on top of other people's stacked stuff. I felt bad moving around other people's bags.

For me and my girlfrien everything was great. The stuffs were truly kind and understanding. I didnt expect it to be this clean and safe. We enjoyed tv. And the front desk guy helped us a lot we are really thankfull .

I have stayed here twice now. Good location close to union square. Reasonably sized private rooms and very clean. Affordable especially during conventions.
The place is extremely loud with common areas very close to the private rooms and little respect for quiet hours. Plumbing in showers very strange to figure out how to get the hot water to work. A $20 cash key card deposit is very strange, I haven't encountered such a thing in eons, and never in the USA.

It was cheap and the location was nice.
Couldn’t get clean towels two days in a row. I asked about it at night and i was told to come the next morning because there were no clean towels left. The next morning they told me to come back later that evening because the towels were yet to be washed/cleaned. Extremely disappointed. Also, i don’t know why the sheets were not already placed. We had to put them on. The toilets were not clean enough. But the price was really good for the location.

No parking, meth and weed and cigarettes being smoked in the rooms and bathrooms, I was sexually assaulted and every staff member I told said they would tell the next shift, they did not. They allowed him to stay on property and follow me around. I ended up packing and leaving at 2 in the morning to get away, I have physical bruises and my PTSD symptoms are out of control. Do not stay here

The place is amazing. Perfect location. Friendly and useful staff. A bit worried about the noise some other people complained about in their comments-we didn’t hear a thing. Also a few comments about the area is not safe-again so wrong. We felt very safe in the middle of the night, early in the morning…
The only thing that we didn’t like was hearing. Way too hot in the room. When we asked about it first they told us to adjust it with a valve on the heater… and then when we couldn’t do that-they told us the settings is centralised for all the rooms and soon it should be turned down. Eventually it was. I like warm but this was way too hot. The only thing we didn’t like.

Management here is rude. Places are not cleaned properly. Not enough restrooms. Kitchen is closed by 10 so be aware if you work late. You will be locked out of getting your food. Not worth it. Also in a very sketchy part of town

This is a basic hotel that does the basics very well. Everything clean and in good order. I only stayed for one night in and out so really only experienced my room. The one caveat: no elevator. So it's not the place to pick if you have very heavy luggage or struggle with stairs. The Sutter Pub on the corner is a decent place to eat.

The location is nice, and it is convenient to a lot a restaurants and sites to see. We booked the 6 person private room, which came with it's own shower, which was nice.
It's in the middle of a lot of bars and restaurants. The nightlife was quite loud unitl 3am. Thankfully, we were all exhausted and slept through most of it.

Aside from the en suite bathroom, there were no other bathrooms on the whole floor or the floor below so if someone’s using the bathroom, you have to walk down two flights of stairs each time.
