Union Square Plaza Hotel was our first stay on our first trip to USA. There was so much we weren't sure about but the staff were happy to answer all of the MANY questions asked. Our room was comfortable and the bed was used a lot as we worked through the jet lag after the 15 hour flight from Australia. Only a block and a half from Union Square, there were lots of places nearby to get food, drinks and coffee. Lots of coffee. There were also lots of banks in the area to help us sort out our cash needs. And to be clear, we are talking Christmas Eve when I thought everything would be closed. Travel from and to the airport on the BART was cheap and easy. We are flying back home from San Francisco and have already booked our room at The Union Square Plaza Hotel.

A little noisy one night with fireworks celebrating Christmas but I can't really say I didn't like it

Old building but nice. Very central to downtown and good value for money. I had two stays actually and I liked that their prices were still comparitively reasonable compared to everyone else around them when there was a big event in town.

Room was a bit chilly in the evening with only a radiator and no thermostat I can control.

We loved several things about our stay here. Most accommodating staff I've ever experienced. Truly went of the way to make us comfortable and welcomed. Location was perfect and the rates could not be beat for the quality and class of the room we stayed in...we got in quite late so when we slept in past our check out alarms , even still.. they were MORE than understanding and accommodated us with a late check out ! I will absolutely be a repeat customer! Check it out it's well worth it ....

Parking was a little far and 40 a night , pricey!

The daytime staff was very accommodating. Unfortunately, the young man at night was very rude. The room was nice , the bed was very comfortable and there was a nice size TV. There was no ice machine, which was needed because I needed to have ice packs and the refrigerator which was just a cooler wouldn't work.

The front desk staff were very welcoming and congenial.

There were several large patches of peeling paint on the ceiling and walls. The headboard was missing, carpet was dirty and there were holes in the curtains. The bathroom was a tiny closet with moldy tile floors and shower. The bathroom door did not close properly. The main room door latch stuck and needed to be forcibly kicked to open and close, causing the windows to rattle loudly due to suction.

Location is great and price was good. Staff is friendly and responsive. Museum of modern arts, Yerba Buena gardens are within walking distance, so is Powell street cable car terminal stop . A lot of public transport options nearby to visit any part of San Francisco.

Room was cramped, could have been cleaner. WiFi is very weak, as good as not available. No AC, but not a big problem in San Francisco. My family had some insect bites, though I didn't have any. Bath is too small for anyone but a small child.

the location was convenient as it was right next to August Hall (went for a concert), room was a decent size. the view was actually pretty decent for the price, i loved that u could open the windows. the staff were polite, a lil cold but not rude. u get what u pay for.

my main gripe was price gouging, that the same room the next weekend was $200 cheaper. still not exactly sure why? also it was run down, not as clean as i’d prefer even for an older hotel. the area is shady but it’s san francisco so once again, u get what u pay for.

Very central hotel, very convenient, with public parking for $38 per day right in front and the cable car a three-minute walk away. Clean, fairly spacious rooms, and an enviable location with lots of places nearby for everything from breakfast to a nightcap. Highly recommended.

The hotel is centrally located in San Francisco. Unfortunately, the immediate area is now rather run-down.

The room was small, old, tired & had no a/c. We needed the windows open to try to counteract the heat & humidity in our room. Sadly, this meant we suffered from the intrusive yelling & swearing of the drunks & drug addicts that populate the area from early evening until morning. Sleep was hard to gain.

Very quaint and elegant decor, excellent location close to downtown - but it is close enough to the Tenderloin and what that brings

Rooms were a bit small, and the room we had was next door to the only elevator. The elevator makes a sort of banging noise when it is in operation - and you WILL hear it all night if you are a light sleeper
