Seriously, the coffee machine opposite the front desk was really good. The fireplace in the lobby was great and the check in clerk was very helpful in giving suggestions for restaurants. Finally, the hotel has a parking lot which was really helpful.
The side of the hotel that we stayed at didn't have an elevator, but at least our room was only one flight upstairs.

The location was very convenient and close to everything. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The only thing that was inconvenient was their parking situation. They claim they cannot accommodate large vehicles, but in fact, they can. However, there is an additional parking lot available for a fee. Despite this minor issue, everything else was excellent. The parking lot was conveniently located near the hotel, making it easy to access.

Confusion over rights to parking in garage. On arrival we were told we could park on second night but not first night, till we protested.
Cable TV has numerous listings under Guide but only about 5 channels that don't require subscription/payment. Not very welcoming.

Location is perfect. The hotel is located in old Quebec City. Super convenient in getting to the tourist spots just in a few minutes. Room is very clean and spacious. If you take train to Quebec City with medium or large luggage, better take a taxi to the hotel. Otherwise you had to go upward slope and stairs by walking to the hotel.
The air conditioner in the room was very noisy.

Hotel Champlain is at a great location, St Anne street is a beautiful one in upper town and offer great line of restaurants and just a short walk from Dufferin Terrace.
Hotel concierge service is great, buffet menu is quite well.
Specific Bad experience with a particular staff (Moki)
The buffet conductor made a comment about the amount of omelette that my husband had taken on his plate, the staff commented that he should leave some of it for other guests. There are couple of things to note here - the buffet area is very small, inadequate for the number guests using facilities during Canada Day weekend stay. The staff made this comment without being aware that my husband was taking that plate of omelette for 4 of us in the family not just for him. We had our parents travelling with us both senior citizen so instead of them holding up lines in already small area we tried to be smart and took breakfast items at once for all 4 of us. My husband did clarify the situation to him after which he did shut up but did not apologize for this snide remark.
It was quite an unpleasant experience.

Outdated furniture, old carpet, leaking shower head. Had to park in different spot but it was easier to stay on the street over night, hotel has its own parking but apparently I haven’t booked the spot.

Great location. Paid for parking on the property and walked everywhere. You pay additional for the breakfast buffet which was good. Bed was very comfortable. Room had a couch, chair, and a dinette set, so plenty of room to move around and places to sit that weren’t the bed. Room was very quiet. Older property but well maintained.
Door was hard to open but we managed. Hard to roll the baggage cart from your car into the lobby.

Parking needed to be reserved. Very limited on-site. There are parking garages around the city for about $25 overnight.

Honestly nothing I really didn't like. I would choose this hotel again if I come back to Quebec city. Maybe one small thing, if the hotel allows dog to be alone in the room for 1 hr or a short-time that would be amazing, as it would allow us to explore more great food nearby. As you know, with dog there aren't many options of restaurants.

Location was excellent with everything we wanted to see in walking distance, but also quiet and safe. The premises were very well managed and the room was clean and well equipped. A great stay overall.
Some parts of the room felt old - the door knob on the shower wouldn't shut unless closed a certain way for example. We felt the breakfast we paid for one morning was not at all worth the price, items were very basic and limited.
