I loved everything about this place. The room was beautiful, the spa tub was amazing and the staff was so friendly and personable. Specifically Antwonne in the lobby area, my fiancé and I really enjoy speaking with him and Edgar at the restaraunt as well.
The only down thing I have to say was the parking set up. The price of parking in a parking structure away from the hotel is a bit pricy. Even though we were supposed to have in and out access we ran into a few issues with it.

Location is perfect. The street noise is a little loud if you are a light sleeper. The beds are comfortable but a little firm. The air conditioner wasn’t working one night but overall a good stay

I like that this hotel is really close to the areas I need to access. The beds are always comfortable and having toiletries in the bathroom is always a plus.
This specific stay was not the best. I have stayed at this hotel multiple times, but this time was the worst. The room was clearly not cleaned well. There was a flaming hot cheeto on the floor in the main room, random stuff on the ground in the bathroom, and the shower curtain looked as if someone puked on it recently and was badly stained. There is no mini fridge in the room (which I was aware of) but it still is a benefit that isn't available unless requested. My room also had no TV remote. We had to call the FD for one. I'm not sure if the TV has a cast system or is a SMART TV in some way, but it didn't appear to be. Also, the breakfast listed in all the Booking.com communication says 7:00AM only to find at the hotel it is 8:00AM. That is pretty late for business travelers and I was very disappointed as I planned my mornings around that.

The location is great. It's a block away from the Grand Red Line stop. Walkable to all things downtown Chicago. The facility is clean. My room had bottom to top windows so the views were great!
Both during my check-in and check-out times, there was only 1 person working the front desk. It was a long delay both times before it was my turn. There should never be just one person. Also, there is no refrigerator in the rooms, so I couldn't bring dairy leftovers. I did bring some pastries back that were thrown out by housekeeping, although they were inside a paper bag on the counter, and not on the floor by trash. I was very surprised and disappointed that my pastries were thrown out.

The bathroom had everything one needs, and I could relax in a real bath instead of shower!
Neighbourhood was lively but quiet enough in the evening to sleep.

It was an amazing weekend at the Royal Sonesta. The staff were very nice and the room was clean and so comfy!!!
It would have been nice if the room came with room service. There is plenty of places to eat surrounding it, so we were able to eat good but we had to leave the hotel.

Ideally located for exploring Chicago. There were many restaurants and bars within an easy walk of the property. Our room was large and spacious. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.
While the public areas had a luxury feel this feeling was not reflected in the room we stayed in. We felt the room furnishings were functional rather than luxurious. While the room was clean ,comfortable and well maintained the furniture and fittings including the bathroom looked dated.
