I booked and paid extra for a city view. When i arrived i was told by the rudish clerk that there were no city view rooms left and there was nothing she could do. That all the rooms were given away to convention people. I was in town with my daughter to give her a great vacation in which i ACTUALLY PAID EXTRA for a city view. Instead we did not have a great view AT ALL.

our stay was absolutely amazing. we were celebrating my brother's graduation with a trip to LA and wanted to stay somewhere safe and conveniently located. The staff were absolutely incredible. They upgraded our room to a higher floor that had a view of the Hollywood sign. It was my brother's first time to the city/out west so that being one of the first things he saw was a treat. The room was bigger than I expected from a hotel in DTLA so that was nice. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. For the most part we couldn't hear any outside noise, but occasionally did hear some noise from the freeway or our neighbors but it didnt bother us at all. The area the hotel is in felt safe and we felt fine coming and going at all hours. they do have security posted at the entrances to help with that. It is still DTLA so of course just use judgment when walking around but we were there for a week and it was fine. We used primarily public transit to get around and there are a number of bus and subway stops within a 2 block radius that will take you wherever you want to go. getting anywhere other than downtown on transit did take 45 minutes to and hour but that is to be expected in LA. The last morning we did have breakfast at the cafe in the lobby and the food was pretty good. It's set up like a Starbucks quick serve so that is what we were expecting but it was far better than that. overall I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who asked.

parts of the room could use a bit of a dusting but nothing crazy. just things like the top shelves and the shelf behind the beds. it's nothing that we used but just something that I noticed. The cleanliness of the room was exceptional other than that.

The smaller bathroom in the Tower suite was not equipped with a shower, the bigger one did have one.

The location is great

This place is the absolute worst. Whenever I travel to LA, I stay at this hotel, and I thought I found the perfect place to stay, but I am currently having the most nightmare vacation. I was charged twice for the hotel & when I contacted them to get this resolved, they said there would be no one to help me until Monday. It is currently Friday, & I am out the money that I planned to use for my vacation. So now I am stranded at this horrid hotel low on funds for my “vacation.” The front desk gave me a money voucher for $200 for my group of 3 for a 4 day stay. When I went to use the voucher for some snacks at the cafe, I was screamed at that the voucher could only be used once. The cafe manager broke the voucher into 4 $50 vouchers. Since I was just planning on getting some snacks & not planning on spending $50 out of the $200 I was given, I went back to front desk. I was sure that this was some kind of mistake because why would I be given 1 $200 voucher if it could only be used once. They let me know that this isn’t a mistake & that there was no other solution. I feel like I’m in some kind of horrible Twilight Zone episode where I wandered into a hotel from hell. Also, the room is absolutely disgusting! I have never had an issue at this hotel, (typically using the blue elevator) but this time the room is COVERED in dust (used the yellow elevator). It’s like no one has cleaned it in months! My group has been coughing constantly because it’s so dusty. Unfortunately, I have booked this hotel in advance for a trip next weekend & will have to return to this nightmare. I can’t imagine booking this hotel again, as it is the most frustrating, annoying trip of my life. I need a vacation from this hotel!

The room was very nice! The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. I really appreciate housekeeping giving me fresh towels during my stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I did not get a chance to dine in the restaurants or even visit the pool, as I was busy at the convention. The free shuttle bus to the convention center for AX was a huge help!

When I stayed last year my room smelled heavy of cigarettes and it bothered my lungs. Every room was booked so I couldn't switch. This year I faintly smelled cigarettes but it didn't bother me. Perhaps a use of deodorizer would help before the room is checked into? Otherwise I greatly enjoyed my stay.

The Westin Bonaventure is one of those iconic hotels -if you ever watch a movie or TV show from the 70s set in LA, then the four golden cylinders of the Bonaventure will probably be seen in a shot at some point. It's as perennial as the Theme building at LAX. The lobby is a tribute to the brutalist concrete architecture of the time -but in a good way. The room was perfectly fine and very quiet on the 20th floor, even though it was only one away from the elevators.

Things were a little rough around the edges. Almost all of the electric sockets were loose in the walls. The water overflow housing cap fell off when a bath was run. Everything just felt a little bit like it was tired and in need of repair. Chipped paint, scratched surfaces, etc. Not in a terrible way -it was just obvious that this wasn't a new hotel.

The hotel was close to where I specifically needed to be. The hotel had a beauty salon and I had a massage which was top class. The foyer was large and had a bar which seemed to open as late as the last customer was willing to leave...which was into the early hours. I was there for an exclusive work event...That event was brilliant. Staff were great and helpful.

The rooms are totally outdated. Windows are not clean (inside out out). A general smell of years and years or dust. Faint smell of cigarettes. Carpet outdated and probably the cause of the general smell. Bathroom out dated and a yellow stained tub from years of use. My room was by an ice machine which was ridiculously loud. I also ended up in a room with a connecting door, which meant I could hear every word and everything happening in the room next door. Hotel shouldn't give connecting rooms, if the people in the next room are not part of a travelling group. In the bathroom, I could hear other people talking (actually could hear someone's conversation via the vent) very bizarre. So, generally felt like there was no privacy when you can hear other peoples private conversations. The whole complex usually has other shops etc... but most of them were vacant and so it all felt a bit quiet and lacking in atmosphere. Unfortunately, hotel is right by an area where many homeless, hooked on drug, congregate. So, outside connecting streets...stank of human poo everywhere and full of homeless, drugged up people off their face, in a zombie state. Didn't feel safe on the streets on my own day or night. 2 people in my work group requested a room change, but all the rooms were relatively the same and since I was only there for 48hours, it wasn't worth the upheaval to move rooms, only to find out it was going to be exactly the same. This hotel does a lot of exclusive events...(The event was brilliant) I really think they need to refurbish this establishment to the quality of their events. Thanks

The concierge and lobby restaurant staff were very accommodating and informative; went above and beyond.

The housekeeper pried her way in my room after I denied housekeeping services. I felt as if she was trying to search my room because we were African American. She offered to hold the door for my fiancé and eased her way in my room anyway. LA Prime closing time was 11:00pm, we arrived at 10:05pm and were told that they stop seating at 10:00pm. That restaurant is the main reason we stayed at this hotel.
