I did not know it was under construction. I also did not know that the gym would be unavailable for my entire stay. These should have been mentioned by Booking.com and the hotel BEFORE I booked. I would not have chosen this hotel had I known. The concealment--or the inconspicuous placement, if at all--of these facts was fraud. I should have been entitled to rescind/cancel without any charges once i arrived at the hotel, found out, and asked to cancel.
In terms of the room itself, the heater was too noisy. The loud sound kept me from falling asleep. Also, there were two controls, one set of controls on the unit itself by the window, and also a wall thermostat. This was confusing and I had to adjust both (because it was not obvious which one or ones worked) causing extra work.

Good location, and we’ve stayed there before. Decent breakfast.
Was under construction. This was not told to us when booking. On the last day of our stay, they had an emergency which had water pouring through the roof and into the rooms on the top floor. We had to leave because we were on that floor. Staff had no idea what to do, when the alarm went off in the middle of the night. The fire department was called and they ended up putting the whole building in a firewatch because the alarm system was unstable due to faulty wiring and water damage. Because of the rain there was no way to guarantee this wouldn’t happen again during the rest of the night. I don’t fault the people that were actually on site working, but I do fault the company for not training their people to handle this properly. It all felt very unsafe.

There was one gentlemen there who was amazing. There was an issue checking in since my wallet had been stolen and I only had my digital wallet for checking in. He did everything he could to help us figure out a way to not lose the funds from our prepaid trip.
Under construction, most of the front desk staff was extremely rude and hostile. The new pancake machine is terrible and they no longer have the waffle maker.

They are renovating, there was supposedly a fire in the electrical room everyone had to be evacuated. Afterwards 4th floor smelt like smoke and fire alarm went off again afterwards.

The entire hotel was under construction, which was not mentioned in the description. Tarps lying over the windows made crackling noises all night in the wind. Giant holes in the walls and ceiling, with water stains everywhere. The microwave in the room was broken, and the coffee by the front desk was lukewarm. It cost a ridiculous amount for a really sketchy looking hotel. I should have just gone to Motel 6 and saved myself 60 dollars it probably would've been nicer.

The room was clean and spacious, but the hotel was undergoing renovations and as a result of those, I had to change rooms. Not a big deal, just a little inconvenient. For some reason, the room fridge seemed too loud and the noise kept waking me throughout the night. But I'm a light sleeper - especially in hotels. Breakfast was ok, coffee was good.
Perhaps it was because of the renovations, but the overall hotel feel was a bit "cold".

The hotel was under renovation. There was not a pool or gym both were demolished and an important factor in why I selected this location, they were both demolished. I would absolutely not have stayed here if I had known, there are so many hotel options in the airport area, booking.com should let the user know when a hotel is under renovation. This is the second time this has happened. I was extremely disappointed.
Advise the traveler when the hotel is under renovation.

Proximity to airport. The breakfast was pretty good and the staff was friendly.
It was under renovation. They were actively painting the outside of the building and replacing doors. The pool area was closed for renovation. There were parts were there wall paper was removed or the tile needed to be replaced. Not sure why they didn't close one section of the hotel and work on it versus it feeling sporadic.

The location, we have stayed here before and really liked the motel.
To start with it is being remodeled and we did not know that. We noticed things like mildew smells around the elevators, baseboard and wallpaper being tore down, but we got to our room. It seemed fine then we tried to sleep out of the four nights that we stayed there, the fire alarm went off, we thought there was a fire each time we had to go out in the middle of the night wake ourselves up. Find other people find out if there was really a fire as you can imagine we did not get much sleep. No one called our room to say there was not a fire or acted like it was a big problem. When we finally contacted the front desk to find out what was wrong they said well since you complained, we will have the manager help you out probably with a refund or something. We never heard from the manager or received any type of compensation, so I guess that was just a story that they tell everyone. The motel should’ve been shut and should be shut now until the remodel is finished.

How close it was to 711
I would have appreciated being told it was under construction. The loud banging and loud engines from the work crew and equipment did not allow my partner and I to get any rest. The water was shut off on the last day I was there. Yes, there were signs posted about the shut off but would have rather stayed somewhere else where that wouldn't have been an issue. The whole 1st floor was dirty and under construction, no gym entry which I was really hoping to partake in. All of it was just a horrible experience, will not be staying at ANY of the clarion hotels NOR their partners.

Even though they are in the process of remodeling, we were surprised at how smooth everything ran the three nights we stayed there. Also, our standard king room was more spacious than most hotel rooms and we loved having an actual wet bar station in the room.
Difficult to think of something. Perhaps the bathroom could have been a little larger?

The price. Comfortable bed and large room size.
It was under construction. They are renovating. Did not know that prior. Also when we went down to the breakfast, they didn’t have anything. The breakfast man said he was bringing it out, but it took too long to wait for the eggs and hot dishes that were missing and we had to leave.
The walls and floors were very thin. You could hear people walking upstairs in the middle of the night. It was very loud. Insulate! This is not the only hotel I’ve had this problem with. I am not sure why they don’t put more insulation in the wall and the floor.

Excellent shuttle availability. I was able to use to go to car rental facility. I also booked shuttle for a shopping trip to Target. Be sure to tip that driver generously. He is a very pleasant part of the staff.

This hotel is conveniently located near the airport and within a short drive to the airport shopping area. It is easy to get to via car and a relatively short (5-10 minute) freeway drive away from all the attractions of downtown Portland. There is lots of free parking and again very easy to drive to without having to deal with major traffic. The King room was very large with plenty of space to stretch out and included a convenient wet bar area. Beds were comfortable and our particular room had a view of the nearby wetland/pond. The large parking lot, no-fee parking, free coffee 24/7 and included breakfast was a good value. We were assured that construction noise would be minimal and the hotel staff put us in a room as far from the construction area as possible. Overall a very quiet area.
This hotel was undergoing major and much-needed renovations when we stayed there. Most of the facilities such as the on-site gym and pool were completely unavailable during our stay. The outdoor shared patio was usable but also under construction. The overall decor of the hotel is very dated and worn. Carpets in the room and throughout the hotel were old and there were obvious wall/ceiling patches and slightly un-matching paint touch-ups in random places. The security lock on our door (the metal swinging arm bit) was bent. We had some minor security/safety concerns as the main entry door to the hotel lobby had signs posted about the doors being locked in the evening. The immediate vicinity of the hotel is very sparse and we did see a few vagrants on the streets near the hotel. Breakfast was just ok, we wish there would have been some fresh fruit options.

The setting on the lake was pleasant and it was very close to the Airport Way. The hot breakfast was great as was the staff.
It is being remodeled so the construction was obvious but it didn’t bother our stay.
